This fallacy describes the broader fallacy that occurs when the evidence given for a proposition is as much in need of proof as the proposition itself! We need to first prove that UFOs are alien in origin, then we need to prove that Iraq has in it's possession this alien technology. Finally, we'd need to prove that the war is indeed motivated by acquisition of said technology!

We know at some point they had WMDs because we sold them to Iraq in the 80s (before they were wrong). Hussein was a monster that we helped get in power, supported regularly, then were compelled to dispatch. We weren't specifically trying to free up their oil supplies, we'd attack Venezuela if we wanted more oil. Aliens aren't even on the radar as a logical reason.
