Why is it that people are so easy to dismiss things. Without taking it into consideration. It really gets on my nerves that say for instance a question is given what's gonna happen on 6-6-06. And then somebody says nothing is gonna happen on 6-6-06. Well you don't know that for sure now do you. So in that case i think you should take it seriously. The point is it's really annoying to me when people are ignorant and don't take stuff like this into consideration.
any thoughts?

McKenna,
It could also be said that people are far too ready to call others ignorant if they do not ascribe to the same beliefs or ideas.
Would it not be a better to begin an exchange of ideas, a discussion in order for others to understand why you believe as you do instead of starting a nonproductive and sure to be disrtuptive thread simply to complain?

Hmm...
Think of it this way, if something is going to happen on 6/6/06, why care? You can't do anything about it nor can you stop it.
You need to let things go as you can't control everything.
Studies have even shown ignoring information that you deem useless is better for memory and in general your health from stress, worry and being afraid.
If something is going to happen on 6/6/06, big deal. If nothing happens, I'll just die another day.

i would give the odds on 06/06/2006 to be very , very low. i think though that most people want to be right soo-bad. and are trying to look "smart" sort of speak.

In my opinion it is for the simple fact that this particular date is no different than any other, and as far as I can tell nothing happened on 6/6/1806, or 6/6/1706...
Other than dozens of threads about the same topic there is nothing to do other than dismiss the claims..

I was only using 6-6-06 as an example. just so that you guys could get where i was coming from. i didn't mean that particular issue. I meant it in general.
this one is for dot. on here there have been so many people dismissing other peoples thoughts about issues like 6-6-06(just for an example) as being hog wash. Well since you don't know what's gonna happen on that date. this is only an example. so that you can get where i'm coming from. since you don't know for sure what's gonna happen on that date. why not keep your eye open and plan a safty drill so that if something does happen then. you would have a plan set forward. and you wouldn't be in a panic running all over the place. when you finally realize that something has happened and you don't know what to do.
any thoughts?

also the most important factor...
its 616 not 666. 666 was a mistranslation that a monk made when transcribing the latin to english, he also made the mistake of 'the red sea' which was infact 'the reed sea' (or something to that effect, not sure if it was reed sea or reed river.)
616 was the number given to nero by the early christians, as he was a tyrant who liked to feed his lions christians every once in a while. the revelations were written during the times that christians were getting a lot of hate, and nero being considered a 'beast' for his actions, they gave him the number 616.

So you're asking why everyone doesn't just take precautions against something because you believe something will happen and they won't?
If someone believes that nothing out of the ordinary will happen, unless by chance something that could have happened another day does happen on that day, why not take these blind and heavy precautions every single day?
Can't you see that not everybody is a Christian, and that not everyone believes that there is evil in the number 666? As Leliel said, that's not even the real "Mark of the Beast"

Maybe because of the 'Y2K' paranoia - everyone thought civilization was going to end because most computers' BIOS programs were based on Cobol, which didn't recognize four-digit years. Well, nothing happened, and so you have it. I;m sure some nut-case out there will try to mark the date '6-6-06' with some sort of monkey business (terrorists or maybe satanic cult freaks), but those will be few and far between. As the others said on the 6-6-6 thread - this date has already occurred two hundred times since the birth of Christ and nothing significant has ever happened on those dates from a historical point of view. The number '6-6-6' is a number of a man and a mark of the beast, according to the Bible, not a date. On that day, maybe we should all take a hard look at anyone we know who's wearing a '666' tattooed on their forearm or forehead.

I might be hit by a car today...
I might be struck by lightning tonight...
I might be hit with a block of cheese later...
I might be in hand to hand combat with a monkey later...
I might...
Just might...

Don't worry, be happy!

LOL Kratos...
In fact on 6/6/06 things will indeed happen! Many, many people are going to be killed in tragic accidents, many others will be murdered, raped and brutalized. World wide starvation will kill thousands on that day. Millions will become sick.

Well, since this topic was NOT really about 6/6/6 and WAS about why people dismissed stuff automatically.....
People have different opinions on things. Very few people actually KNOW much at all, but if everyone's mind was completely open to everything... it would get really boring, really quick.
Imagine the threads:
Topic Starter -- I heard that Satan's offspring is coming to earth on June 6th!
Reply 1 -- Oh, really. That's interesting. I'll have to practice my Satan's offspring preparedness drill.
Reply 2 -- Oh my. Yes that could happen. We don't really know do we?
Reply 3 -- Hmm.. I think I'll make sure I have clean underwear... just in case.
See what I'm getting at?
No, I'm not making fun of you... people have opinions & beliefs about stuff -- all different -- all worthy of debate.
If your mind is TOO open, your brain will fall out.
And it would get really mucky in here... really fast.

Doesn't this relate to the study done on those with political interests showing that people ignore stuff they want to, same with religion?

I had a wonderful day yesterday, it was warm and sunny.....the world didn't end, I saw no imps or demons of any sort gushing forth from a gaping chasm in the Earth to kill my family, all in all, a splendid day
and I will repeat my arguement again here, numbers are a human invention, no self-respecting devil figure would allow itself to be governed by an institution of a creature it is trying to dominate, therefore the devil would not obey a system of numbers with which to identify days that happen to concur with ANOTHER system of numbers invented by people that does not even spell out his name, should he have one, as names are also a human invention. For the number 666, not only being a mistranslation of 616, does not name the devil, it names Nero, and if any devil figure wanted to come to Earth, I don't think it would wait til the one day all the idiots of the world are expecting it to.
