I would just like to remind you all, in the midst of the 6/6/6 fiasco, that today, June 6th, also marks the 1944 commencement of Operation Overlord, the invasion of Normandy, better known as D-day.

62 years ago, young Allied men of many ethnicities, fighting for their wives, parents, and children, stormed the beaches of Normandy, a daring offensive which changed the course of the war. Canadian and US forces suffered near-50% casualties at Juno and Omaha beaches, respectively, with many more casualties inflicted on the other Allies. However, they persevered and fought past the heavily fortified German positions and into France, paving the way to victory in the West. Without the courage of these soldiers, the world would be a very different place. We are forever indebted to those who bore the burdens of war, and endured the loss of their comrades.

Please, take a moment to reflect on the courage of the men who fought in Operation Overlord. original.gif

These soldiers were indeed brave. I don't think we will ever see the likes of them again. Please give them the recogniton they deserve! Those were the real heroes.

Yeah, we should just forget all that "end of the world" sh*t.

I was well aware that this is the D-Day anniversery, we should take some time to remember the fallen. Also, although there was a 50% casualtie percentage among Canadians and Americans, it was an allied victory.
