To any mods around here, is there any possible way that you could speed up the search option on my assistant? People always tell me to go search for a wide variety of things, but (maybe its just me) the search always takes me over a minute to complete. Please save me grin2.gif

Remember the server is flying through over a million posts of text looking for a few select words and the server can only be so fast, so it's not too bad.

I was searching earlier, only took 20 seconds or so. So it might also be your own connection.

I don't know, I have a pretty fast connection, and Google searches through billions (or maybe trillions) of sites in under a second, so I don't think its too much too ask. original.gif

I think it could depend on your internet speed?
I know I have DSL and search still takes a good 30 plus seconds for me....

That pretty much sums it up, the search is looking through a huge database of information for very specific terms. There is also the fact that Invision board organises that information in a certain way, and the efficiency of the searches is down to the way in which Invision Board performs them.

Unlike Google, we don't have several warehouses full of servers situated all over the world to process our database searches for us. wink2.gif

Speaking of "Search" ; has anyone else noticed when one conducts a search of a particular keyword, and the server returns no hits, one then posts on that which they searched for first, only to receive a reply that claims it's already been posted? That's damn embarrassing. blush.gif Especially when the server returned no hits in that particular forum.
