I think my dog sees ghosts

or something like this. She simply reacts on emptiness as if there is somebody; I don't know how to explain better.

I live in an older house. My german shepard Max would not go in one of the bedrooms. He would run past the door...you couldn't call him into the room...you couldn't drag him into the room. It was so weird. I don't know what the deal was. He was like that from the first time he came into the house. I always wondered if he saw something in that room.

My brother's cocker spaniel would bark at the closet and insist something was there. Then the cat would come over and they'd stare, look back at us, and stare at the closet again.
Though there were enough mice in the woods around us, it was probably just that. Same with beetles.

Animals are very sensitive and have much better senses than us. I've heard lots of stories of dogs that were frightened by ghosts. And dogs who are ghosts themselves.
At the Whaley House in California, there is said to be a dog that runs past people on the second floor. It's believed to be the Whaley's pet dog!

Maybe your dog is just a little crazy or dumb.

Jun 12 2006, 02:07 PM
It also could be the fact that dogs and cats are also very sensitive to vibrations and maybe there is some weird electromagetic activity going on in the air where the animals don't want to go?

My aunt's dog was touched by a ghost. Like a lot of dogs he had a lot of tags and on his collar and whenever you pet him you can hear his tags jingle. One night she was up reading in her bed when she suddenly heard the tags move, she looked up and there was an old man standing at the end of her bed petting the dog. All of a sudden he went up in a puff of smoke.
Also one time when I was living in my first apartment I had this cat name Sass that used to act like she saw things. One night I had all the lights out and was watching t.v. in the living room and Sass was sitting next to me. All of a sudden she starts hitting at something on the window like cats do with strings or toys. When I looked up there was the weirdest shadow I have ever seen in my life, it looked like a dogs head at the top of my window. It started moving like someone was doing shadow puppets or something and I started moving to get up thinking someone was looking in my window and the cat started freaking out. I jumped up and ran outside and there was no one to be seen. My window faced the parking lot and there was no way someone could have gone in the couple of seconds it took me to get out there. It still kinda freaks me out to this day when I think about it.

Umm, well, animals will go crazy at scents they pick up. Anything that moves gets a cat's attention. You mentioned you were watching TV with the lights off. Most likely was the images of the TV shining on the window.
I got a bird in my house once thru the vent for my AC. My dog was out in the yard at the time. I got the bird out of the house and over an hour later i brought my dog back in. He picked up the scent of that bird in the AC closet and ran back and forth by the door to it, scratched at it, sniffed, whined and everything else. Anyone that would have come to my house and saw that (without hearing the story) would have thought he was seeing a ghost.

It was quite the moment, I assure you. And when we were at the beach and there was a dolphin but my man thought it was a shark and he starts screaming 'get outta the water!'....
He's also very strong and very brave, unless there is a bee involved. Then he fuh-reaks!
I can say these things because I have been with the same man for 17 years. I have written permission...

That brought to mind a friend who is a big, strapping guy...but was diminished to a pile of shaking jello when a squirrel got into his house! He was terrified and had to send someone else in to 'oust' the *creature!!* For weeks afterwards his friends kept sending toy squirrels anonymously to him! LOL! (It wasn't pretty)...

Why do people keep on saying the animals are dumb! They are more intelligent than us.

I'm not saying that animals are dumb.......but they eat their own poo........."the defense rests your honor."
Animals are instinct-driven. The difference between human beings and animals(besides the eating poo thing) is this: conscious thought....the ability to choose our actions and act outside instinct. Now while this strictly-instinctual thought-pattern may make animals more sensitive to certain vibrations and electrical fields that human beings are not......ultra-sensitive does not equate to ultra-intelligent.

Ahh yes, but animals such as wolves and big cats that hunt in packs have hieracies, ambush, ect. Can you tell me how they ambush on instintcs? And why many animal groups have hierachies, something us humans put into affect long after them? Still, animals do usually pick up on more paranormal hotspots than us.

The "hierarchies" you speak of are formed by the "strongest to the weakest" principle : the strongest lead and the weakest fall by the wayside and follow....and while ambush tatics could be seen as a form of intelligence it is still the instinct of the animal that drives it to attack when hungry.....do you always go and eat THE MINUTE you feel hunger....the answer is no, not always, that is the difference between man and animal. I am in no way insinuating that animals are all just wandering around looking for food 24/7.....but what do you think sharks do? They eat...swim...and make little baby sharks....that's it....but that is only an example for instance. The wolf and "big cat" reference is a good one as it pertains to perceived intelligence but wolves attack sometimes by ambush for the same reason that Great White Sharks sometimes breech from below into the air when attacking swiftly into seals.....it's what they've always done....genetic imprints.....instinct.

I think animals are sensative to certain things but i do think some animals are dumb. Two of my dogs for example My first dog slept through a mild earthquake. My other dog is just plain dumb he is samrt to learn tricks but some of the stuff he does makes him look yampy. But i love them lol.
My tarantulas were different they were very intelligent. The worst of the bunch was very clever at escaping no matter what i did to her enclosure to hold her in she would find away and she always made a bee line to me to attack me. Another thing is i thing animals react to sistuations like anger i was once cleaning out one of my more tame spiders so i had her on the chair next to me. My friend was there at the time and we broke into a argument about something and it got pretty heated then the spider plopped off the chair and dashed right at him. He ignored her because he knew she was tame and she has never once bit him but this time she dashed at him and climbed upon his shoe and onto the bottom half of his leg then sank her fangs in. He yelped and kicked his leg up sending her flying luckily i managed to catch her without her being injured. Sigh i miss my tarantulas lol.

Dogs often get strange vibes but I doubt it is aliens to blame...
Their senses are much different than ours so I'm not sure I would credit such phenomena
