I'm thinking light refraction, cats scowl at humans sometimes for no apparent reason however maybe your were breaching its territory.

They also chase nothingness which interests me as ive seen 2 cats together collectively eye chasing the same moving point of nothingness.

Yeah it was the devil, on a day with loads of six's I usually turn into a beast...hence number of the beast....this time I got a damn cat. Well could have been worse on the 6th of June 1806 I was a slug...
Taulha
Yeah my friends cat has looked oddly at times and the light bouncing off of it's eyes make them turn a red color. It looks so cool when you change where your standing they change colors. I love nocturnal animal's eyes. But mostly as said by DeadRobot, it's a light reflection.
boorite
What's so weird about cats being Satanic? I thought that's why we liked them.
brazilianguy
i thought cat's were good, like they protect people. but thats just what i think

Just a trick of light...nothing to worry about...I've got a black cat and sometimes if the light catches his eyes just right, he looks pretty wicked.. original.gif
RamboIII
You have seen a black cat with red refracted eyes thousands of times in the past, I'm sure, but this one particular incident you remembered because it was 6.6.06.

yes.gif

Also, I have had cats most of my life, and never once have I seen any distinctive expression on their faces. How in the world could you decipher what an "evil look" would appear like?

agreed.

Also, cats can have one eye a different color from the other, just like humans and dogs. And cats can occasionally have eyes that are a deep copper color, which might look red.

But I think the light reflection is more likely. I've seen my cats eyes reflect red in only one eye on occasion. It's pretty freaky. Especially on my black cat. original.gif

Do you have one cat or multiple cats? I never noticed how different cats could be until I ended up with three (I'd always had only one). Not just their personalities, but facial structure and expression. My two female cats are constantly antagonizing each other. Yesterday, Lily hissed at Ashy, who was just walking by. When Ashy walked back, she gave Lily this glare that was the cat equivalent of "Make my day, b***h." It was the funniest thing. I've seen them look blissful and almost smiling when in a sunbeam or being petted, glaring with eyes half closed when confronting each other, wide-eyed and amazed at whatever it is I'm doing, pleased with themselves, etc.

Most of those are subtle, but when a cat gets defensive and angry, you can certainly tell it apart from it being normal.

This sounds a little supersticious to me. The cat probly saw something in you that she didn't like.
Mookie

Just because it was on 06/06/06 and you saw a cat with red eyes, doesn't mean it was the devil. I have 2 cats, both black and I will admit that when you get the light reflection and see there eyes go red, it is a bit freaky and yes, cats can give you truly evil looks, Moloo does it all the time when he knows I'm gonna wash him. Jack does it too, but Moloo's better at the whole if looks could kill stuff.
Lady_Anvilabeel
616 is susposed to be the devil's number anyway.
coldethyl
No it wasn't the devil.
earthchick
I agree with everyone else who said it was simply refracted light. The date wasn't really three sixes anyway........it was actually 6, 6, 2006.

Do you really observe them much? I've seen every expression imaginable on my cats' faces, and when they are cranky (especially male cats) can look downright evil. LOL. When they want something they are very good at giving you that big wide-eyed innocent angelic look too. yes.gif
TyjiFeku
Light reflecting off the cornea and retina makes the eye turn different colours, usually red.
Ever seen a person with red eye in a photo?
It's the same thing.

I think the worst part is walking into a room and seeing them staring at you with that evil expression.

It's worse when it's all three at once. My primitive flight instincts kick in and I want to run screaming into a tree and throw rocks at them.

Rocks. Sure, that's what we apes would fling at cats...

Since most people are saying it was just nightshine in the kitty's eyes, I'll go ahead and say the cat was possessed by the Devil.

laugh.gif I only have the two and I know they conspire against me. Well when they aren't conspiring against the dog. They try and kill him by knocking small choking objects off the counter knowing that he'll try and eat anything.

No, not possessed by the devil, but the devil, himself!

Are we done with the 666 nonsense yet? Please? If I ask nicely will you go ahead and stop it? innocent.gif

But we only have 100 years until the next 6/6/06! We have to be ready!

*runs in circles screaming*

Also, since 6:66 isn't a real time, I think 11:11 am on 11/11/11 would be way more interesting than 6/6/06

Couldn't agree more. My cats have mastered every possible innocent angelic look a cat can give and they work all the time. Think I'm spoiling them too much. They've gotten away so many times after "murdering" my couch, thanks to those looks.

Btw, I agree with most that the red eye look is due to reflection. Can really understand why one would get scared coz I've had my share of being scared in the dark by my cats' eyes. Worse that it had to happen on 6/6/06.
