Okay I don't usually start topics, but I thought this was so totally unreal that I had to share. I put it here as a report.

These people have connected the paisley pattern to demons, no joke:

What do you think??

I think it's the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a long time. And it kind of reminds me of 6 Degrees from Kevin Bacon..... hmm.gif

cool i wanna go see it.

it sounds interesting

Here's what I think...bahahahahaha. And again, bahahahahaha. Paisley is demonic. That's just nuts! They somehow get from paisley to Pythagoras and end up with demons. Does this mean geometry is demonic, too? Do right angles equal the devil?

I was going to read more of the articles on this website, but then I saw the "No demons allowed" symbol. Seeing how I'm one-quarter demon from my mother's side, I thought it best to just leave the site before I blew it up or something.

Someone please tell me that this is a spoof site.
syrinx
ROFL...It's the same this as "everything causes cancer"! I always thought paisley to be more girly and ugly than demonic.
coldethyl
I wish it was a spoof site, but it isn't. It's a real religious site. They attribute everything to demons, and I mean everything. It's totally crazy. This one was the one that I absolutely could not believe they really believed in. Ridiculous. no.gif
Lady_Anvilabeel
What a joke! LOL - The Paisley they speak of I know quite well grin2.gif
OlDrippy34
Didn't guys used to wear shirts like that? Terrible.
googlybear
Paisley is so butt-ugly. I thought Satan would have better taste and perhaps go for a nice plaid..... devil.gif
OlDrippy34
Satan wears ultrasuede.

And silk ties... yes.gif

Paisley is only one of the minor imps, not a full-blown demon. It is really really really really amazing that people can be SO DUMB to actually think a pattern of cloth is demonic.

Sigh...
crouton
I especially like the ad for skin care products at the extreme end of the page! An all-purpose website: Get your information about demons/Paisley AND skin care products! blink.gif

Some paisleys are nice. I had a favorite dress that was paisley. Alas, not only is it out of style, I no longer fit into it! crying.gif

blink.gif Not quite sure what to think about that.

Alll this time I thought paisley represented innocent, distorted paramecium. Now, I learn it's demons. Humph.
coldethyl
These people also think that giving dolls to children or even having figurines of angels are bad because they represent graven images. They represent extremism if you ask me. And that's never good.

In DELIVERANCE, you should stay away from many things because of the ORIGIN. In the PAISLEY PRINT PATTERN, you have a connection with

CATHOLICS

THE COUNTRY OF INDIA (WITH ALL THEIR GODS)

GOAT HAIR (GOAT IS THE SYMBOL FOR THE DEVIL)

MUSLIMS

PRAYER RUGS

JESUITS

CULTS

SEERS

MAGICIANS

OCCULT

This is a prime example of being a bigot with entirely too much time on your hands.
Religious fanatacism has reached a new low when they start attacking patterns on clothes.

I wonder if there is any people around here that agrees with this website laugh.gif

God, I hope not. laugh.gif I can't remember what thread I saw it in, but I wrote it down on a scrap paper at my desk and had the time to look at it yesterday and was more than slightly disturbed. I think it might have been mentioned by someone who used to be on this forum but is no longer. huh.gif

There's even a disclaimer on it about racism and hate. It's just totally insane. But the paisley thing just made me lol how they connected a pattern with demons!!!! NUTS!!!!
Sweetpumper
That's just sad.

The music when you open that page is what's to be feared. religious sites playing midi's make baby jesus cry.

as for paisley, it was probably something some poor woman in their congregation wore one day, someone else's husband checked her out and voila! demonic tendencies.

Tiggs
Oh yeah. Goats. The very epitome of evil.

Here's my "six degrees":

Worshipping pagan dieties is evil
Tree nymphs are pagan dieties
Wood comes from trees
Jesus was crucified on a wooden cross
Paper is made from wood
The Bible is made from paper

So that would make Tree Nymphs, Wood, Jesus, Paper and the Bible evil. Hmmmmm....

ps. Everyone "knows" that Beelzebub prefers polka dots, right?
pps. Goats eat paper. You all know what that implies...

Somewhere in that site it says that you might feel uncomfortable listening to that midi file but only because it chases away demons and you should play it over and over. I'm not making this up. mellow.gif

wait, so what they're saying is by me wearing paisley I'm associated with catholics! oh no!

Just to quote dogma: "Leave it to the catholics to destroy all of existence"

LOL Your probaly right laugh.gif ohhhh the 'evil paisley pattern' top was responsible for some guy giving a womans cleavage the eye and getting horny, so it must have been demonic influences - 'laughs herself off chair'

So this is anti-catholic?

And other religions that are not Christian/Protestant.

Ok... That's weird, why would a giant comma be demonic?

The comma is by far the most sinister and diabolical punctuation mark ever spawned.

Okay, I am going to admit something that may be very hard for some of you to swallow, but . . . paisley is one of my favorite fabric patterns. So, what does that make me? And here I thought orthagonal patterns were what everyone needed to be wary of.

Thank God you didn't say impaired fashion sense. I'm too young to be lost in the 60s, however, I like retro.
OlDrippy34
A man in my position has no business calling someone fashion impaired.

HaHaHaHa That was actually quite entertaining! I wonder how many people read that and actually burned or got rid of all their paisley clothes.... Hmmm... hmm.gif tongue.gif

Ha! Ha! You know......I love paisley. Even as a young child I just loved to look at paisley print. I've always found it intricate and pretty. Though I do prefer it in a smaller form in more muted colours. My mother has always hated it. When I was young, when we'd go clothes shopping I'd pick out a dress or something with paisley print and she say, "Yew! Only old ladies wear that!". LOL. I guess that's because she's angelic and I'm.......not. devil.gif

And I thought I had heard everything!!!!!!!!
coldethyl
That site is full of stuff that I would never have associated with demons!! Certainly not paisley!!!! huh.gif
ivytheplant
I think paisley is the least of our worries in fashion. I'd rate hotpants in gold lame and pink vinyl as demonic long before I'd even consider paisley.

My ring (will be) paisley. Link. Does that mean my union is sanctioned by Satan? ohmy.gif

I'll probably hear a lot of crap about this, but I think half of overtly religious people's problems come from repressed sexuality. Not in the sense of orientation but in the denial of man's basic urges.

That sounded kinda slutty eh?

No, I agree. And these people just tend to look for the devil in everything. I just don't get the point. It's like their sole purpose in life is to be miserable and to make their congregation miserable. hmm.gif
Henge_Witch
Thats almost as amusing as the Pieists, and I don't mean those who worship the mathematical concept of it, I mean they worship PIES, they apparently abhorre the cakeists of the opposite scale, kinda like the jedi and the sith tongue.gif
I shall have to find the link for you, I tried to join once but my application to become a pie worshipper was denied. Maybe i'm just too cakey?

Oh yeah the paisley thing, bears an uncanny resemblance to fractals doesnt it?
Paisley - Chaos clothing!

Dang that IS a beautiful ring ivy original.gif

Forgot about this thread, sorry coldethyl, wasn't ignoring you.

I agree with most of it... but again it's not something I concentrate on. The "devil" is in Alot of things.... meh *shrugs shoulders*

It's like the hand sign ppl worry about, I *do* think there's something to it, but heck I still do it. Smoking... my body's a temple to The Lord, but I smoke like an industrial chimney (an not just cigarettes...)

So many things... I'm not sure how to put it... maybe "You *Can* drown in a cup of water."

Now some would freak out (like many see the site as) and avoid all water because you can drown in it. Some (the opposite of the site) get uppity and say that's insane-o to drown in a cup of water...

I say, both are right. The site is correct in much of what it says, but there's so many other things that are more important. Things like that can be "overpowered"... but it doesn't mean the subtility is non-exsistant.

Like the Colors threads. Color Does have an effect on people, But... it can be overpowered by other circumstances. You Can get hot in a "cool" colored room.

So color has an effect, and it doesn't. Same as this, and the other things.

Origins are important (apple from which tree, honey came from a dead what?, parental genetics, etc...)

I also agree that some people really want others to be miserable and will use religion to justify their own selfish morality.

All my opinion the way I see it, not asking anyone to believe or agree with me.
