Hi everyone.
There is a phenomenon which I saw once and I know it is generally well known as I also saw it for a couple of seconds on a TV show once, but I didn't catch the name and I haven't been able to find it on the net.
It is a kind of spiriling vortex, cone shaped, made up of geometrical shapes.
If anyone knows the name of this thing or anything about it could you please email me
at blucat@optusnet.com.au
Thank you.
blucat.

A black hole?
A black hole is a funnell shaped destroyed star that captures all light and, all though tiny, is more dense and heavy than anything else in the universe.

Did it have to do with fractals?

No, not a black hole.
I saw this thing myself at ground level in Brisbane, about 20m across at the top, maybe 4m across at the bottom, like an ice-cream cone with the bottom chopped off, except the 'cone', the solid part was made up of non-connected geometrical/mathematical shapes. It was spinning slowly, and was transparent in that the geometrical shapes seemed to be made of yellow light.
There is a name for this thing, other people have seen it, but if you go looking for
"spiriling mathematical vortex" on the net you get a million hits about scientists discussing the movement of particles in vortexes, I can't find it in the mess, hence asking you guys who might have known about it.
Thanks again,

What do you mean by geometrical/mathmatical shapes?

Are you talking about
DNA?

Sounds to me like DNA aswell...

Sounds like a small tornado that just ripped through a kindergarten classroom and sucked up all the math manipulatives.

Hi again.
Purplos, whilst trying to be funny, actually is the closest to what I saw.
It wasn't DNA, I hoped my description was good enough to rule that out.
Chaoszerq, thanks, but that link isn't any help. What I saw was perfectly symetrical, more like a euclydian cone than a swirly tornado. Also no geometrical shapes there.
Crouton, re: fractals, well it probably does have something to do with fractals, everything is fractal in nature, but that doesn't get me any closer to finding someone who knows about this thing, or the name of it.
What I meant by geometrical/Mathematical shapes was something like the 3d blocks in the game 'block-out', like 3d tetris blocks, all different, but they all had some relationship with each other, so the whole thing gave the impression of forming a completed mathematical formula, sort of like if you represented the equasions of relativity geometrically.
If I find the name or a picture I'll post it here so you can see, or if anyone knows, let me know.
Thanks again, blucat.

chaoszerg, thanks, I actually emailed the physics dept. as I know someone will be familiar with this thing. If/when I find it I'll post it here.
By the way, 'spying on emily booth from the shower', care to comment on that??
