Hey all,

I recently started playing some games on my PC. While playing games like AOE 2 there is never a problem with the picture... but when I play Need for Speed: Underground or Mech Warrior 4, etc. I'm getting green dots in the picture and in some place odd lines that don't affect gameplay, just my view.... this ever happen to anyone?

You could run 3DMark, see if that throws up any errors ...

I shall try when I get home, I'm assuming a quick google search will yield the program?

Theres a free version you can get at download.com, thats where i got mine from ...

oops forgot, best thing to do first thou, is try the latest driver for your graphics card if not already installed .. run dxdiag from the run cmd line that will give you driver version and also you can run some basic tests...see if those go through without probs. Also check dxdiag confirms that you have the latest version of DirectX ( 9.0 c ) installed. else d/l that from microsoft. Do these things before DL'ing and trying 3DMark thou . it may fix the problem and then no need to try 3dmax , a big download too ./

To run dxdiag, this page seems to describe it ok ....

dxdiag

What kind of motherboard do you have? If you have VIA 686 south bridge chipset you might have trouble with running recent games with a geforce card. Theres always been a problem with that combination . You could get an Ati card i guess, those will work ok if you do have that chipset .

I have an MSI 848P Neo-V motherboard.....

Where'd you get all the cash for that?... I want to buy one..and it's $180 off at $119...but I don't have cash until next week and the sale will be over sad.gif....

I think I'll take it to where I bought it and see what's actually wrong.... at least they provide free service for me....

So I guess I'm just pushing the card way beyond it's limits which is causing the greendots.... but I'd rather the green dots then boxey objects.... I'll get a new one soon enough. You can close this thread if you want.

So I went to play Jedi Outcast last night on my brother in laws comp and noticed his was running at around 30 - 40 FPS.... when I play the game on mine I'm getting close to 100 FPS...does anyone know if that could cause the problems the card is having?
