I dont think this is a ghost but I dont know what it is. The other night I heard this really weird sound coming from outside so I plugged a microphone into my computer, and recorded it on sound recorder. Its like a really loud tone. If I had to describe it I would say its like electronic thunder. If you guys wanna hear it I have the file. I need someone to host it for me. I wanna know what you guys think about it. I'm kinda hoping you can explain it as something normal because I was real spooked.

PS: if you know of a better web forum for unexplained sounds let me know!
Magikman
I believe you can upload it in the image gallery, I think it will accept sound files as well as video. The webmaster checks contributions every day. If I'm wrong, just send a PM to Saruman and he may host it for you. Just click on his name and a window will open up displaying his profile, click on the 'send a personal message' tab and you can leave him a message. He lives in Scotland, so you won't get an answer until tomorrow. thumbsup.gif

Wow, this sounds like a cropduster's propeller at first, but after I put on my headphones, it sounds like an electronic drone sound, like someting that otta be in a sci-fi film...
I will review it a little bit more and see if I have anything else to say.

No crupdusters anywhere near here. I'm in the Boston area. Yeah, my first instinct was something electrical. One time I saw a power transformer explode green sparks and it sounded kinda like that except it was like it was in slow motion.

Uhh...? Slow motion? mellow.gif

And one more thing: If you saw sparks, how were they green??? that really intreguied me.
From what I know Spraks from electricity are blue, and sparks from metal or friction are orange & yellow. Very strange, but im no electrician tongue.gif .

I reviewed the sound and it now sounds like someone(Or something) slightly hit a metal pole right near you, and the sounds you heard are vibrations, I am not sure though, another idea is it may be a very cra*py car or a moped? (LOL)
And ANOTHER idea is someone running around your place with an electronic lawnmower tongue.gif . Its a little strange but its a possibity.

And Finally, It just might be something out of this world, but I can't say that yet without any solid evidence.

Ahh and one more thing is keep an eye out on your printer ( If you have one ), as mine hisses at me from time to time laugh.gif

As Truth_Seeker once said in another thread, It could be anything within the realm of possibility.

Ill check with you later thumbsup.gif

To be honest it sounded like wind blowing down a pipe.

Blow down a pipe and you will get the same sort of sound. Or lighty blow down a bottle like on the pic and you can make the same sort of sound.

it sounded really far away though. I kinda wonder if it was a siren or a nautical horn. I'm near the ocean but there's no ports really close. The other day I heard a vehicle go by with the british ambulance sound. Maybe the police are testing new siren sounds? I really have no idea. Does anyone know if there are any forums dedicated to unexplained sound analysis? I know some people do that thing where they record stuff in graveyards. Where do they hang out?

you live near the ocean? If there are any buildings valley or mountains near there the sound can resonate inbetween buildings and between valley walls and sometimes mountains it might be that. I live in the uk and the ambulances are not using anything that sounds like that. It could be your or someone elses drainpipe or guttering that is making the sound when the wind is blowing into it.

Could it be thunder (echo)?

Good point Vernes, the accoustics from thunder can sometimes be odd, esp around water or hills or with changes in atmospheric pressure.

That was my impression too.

You know what this sounds exactly like to me....

I dunno if anyone would remember what i'm about to bring up, please say if you do.
I was a slightly deprived child and used to constantly play with an outdoor toy I liked to call "UFO Wind Tube". It was a long ridged plastic tube you would swing around above your head causing a tube like alien sound. The uploaded sound reminded me of when you would start to spin it. It worked like the blowing into the bottle thing.

Memories of my ufo childhood.
