Someone told me you get a red nose if you drink.

Over time your nose gets red and larger, is this a myth, or truth?

Because i know ppl with red noses in their 40's that drink a lot... Hmmmm....

Alcohol triggers dilation of the capillaries, causes a red nose and facial flushing. Also there is rhinophyma, a severe form of rosacea which also causes a red, bulbous nose. Alcohol is one of the triggers of rosacea/rhinophyma, so when one who has it drinks alot, the reddening and enlargement is more pronounced.

So this is a fact then.

Interesting that liver damage or disfunction can often result in 'spider veins' (broken or highly visible capilaries) in the face as well. Too much drinking can lead to liver troubles.

I don't "complain" about him, i merely use my freedom of expression, and diss him freely. If i was to speak publically about this i could lose my job or what not. UM is a great vent for things of this nature. However, we are off topic!

My conclusion is to this forum is that this is not a MYTH, and that drinking does do damage to the blood vessels in the nose.
