This story is something I have been told, however it is quite an authentic one as many people were affected.

A friend of mine worked for a Plumbers Merchants in St. Helens, England. The building was an old one, say the 1880's, and had only recently been taken over by this firm.

Early on in their stay strange things would happen, such as the moving of equipment, things falling off shelves, things disappearing and re-appearing and all that sort of carry-on. It happened to such an extent that the staff used to get blase about it all, until one day something very dramatic occured.

As my friend and his colleague were collecting some parts from the cupboard underneath the stairs, they became aware of a smell, along the lines, of a tramp from the streets. As they looked round an elderly gentleman walked past them. They asked him what he was doing there obviously as he was in an area he should not be. However it was what happened next that shocked them. The elderly gentleman ignored them but turned to walk up the stairs, however he didn't walk up, he glided up, about a foot above the treads, and continued up and straight through the solid wall. Both of them had to take the rest of the day off they were in such shock.

Over the course of the next few weeks they, and many of their sceptical colleagues witnessed this event being replayed on many occasions, until they actually got to the point where they virtually ignored it happening. However it was enough to make them buy new premises, and move out as quickly as possible.

My friend had no interest, or belief, in ghosts before, in fact he had audibly scoffed at such suggestions. This period in time certainly changed those beliefs.

One thing that was unusual in this tale for me though was that this ghost did not appear like a ghost at all. It was not transparent, in fact it was very solid, and when the man walked past the first time he did not appear anything other than an average old man. the features were solid, he looked human.

Not sure who is in that building now, and whether events are still occuring, but one thing I do know is that there were too many reliable witnesses for this all to have been the figment of somebodies imagination.

Ooohh another spoooky tale...(Sorry it's nearly Halloween and I'm getting into the swing of it early tongue.gif )
You could ask your mate what style of clothing this old man was wearing, it might give you a clue into what period in history this man was from then you could look for any strange or tragic deaths that occurred in that time. You never know you might find out who he was. thumbsup.gif

Hello all:
Well Haloween really doesn't frighten me. Its more of a costume party. The true Haloween or Hallowed Eve is actually celebrated in many countries at the end of November when one celebrates those who have passed on.
The weird thing is many of these things have happened to me ever since I can remember. OBE's actually started when I was a teenager and usually occured when I was either ill or under stress. Seeing and feeling presences had always been a part of my life so I used to think it was natural and everyone else had those same experiences. I have had dreams that came true just exactly as I had dreamed them. One particular one was of dreaming that my brother was going to die. He lived in Europe and I had not seen him for several years. I even phoned him to make sure he was ok. He was a young guy with no health problems. Yet two months later he died of pulmonary embolism. One night I woke up hearing noises down in the living room like drawers being opened. I went to investigate and everyone was sleeping...even the dog. Then I went to the kitchen to get a drink of water and had the feeling that someone was standing right in the room with me just looking at me. Well, the hair on the back of my neck and arms stood straight up and I rushed upstairs to bed leaving on all the lights. During the night it had snowed. The weirdest part was that there was a set of footprints in the fresh snow. It looked like someone just started walking and stopped at the bottom of the stairs by the kitchen door. No steps led back or anywhere else, but it looked like someone just stood there. All this weird stuff was pointed out by our neighbour who was getting a ride with me that morning. Three days later I heard news that my brother had died the SAME night I felt the presence watching me. His autopsy report said he died at 09:35 am in Europe which would have made it about the time I had my experience in the middle of the night. I am not suggesting it was his spirit or anything but I have never seen footprints start out of nowhere and end no where unless the person had wings. The snow everywhere else was undisturbed. Now Im scared everytime I have a dream about someone. Weird things happen to me no matter what house I live in. Just a few months ago I woke up in the middle of the night to a loud crash of breaking glass. I woke up my husband...the world's biggest sceptic and we went to investigate. I had a hurricane type candle on the top of the wall unit way in the back BEHIND a plant. The glass and the candle were on the floor and there was broken glass everywhere. How it smashed to the floor I have no idea as the candle holder was still behind the plant. My husband suggested 'the wind' or a 'mouse' (must have been a HUGE mouse) but to this day I have no explanation. Or for that matter electrical appliances turning on by themselves like my blender, or the pocket calculator/alarm playing music suddenly and when I tried to get it to play there was no battery in it...well those are REALLY freaky. I just know things happen, sometimes weird things I can't explain. I don't actually think they are ghosts or anything but I really would like to know the reasons. Or why some have such weird stuff happen yet others don't. Anyone out there have any ideas??
