Last night I was driving home with my girlfriend from a friends house about an hour away. The weather was off and on rain, and patchy fog.
My girlfriend who is open to believing, but has never actually experienced anything ghostly/paranormal, was sitting in the passenger seat as we were heading east on route 2 in massachusetts between 190 and 495. Suddenly she bolted straight up in her seat and screamed "watch out!!!" causing me to swerve into the next lane. I asked what was wrong and she claimed to have seen a man standing in the middle of the road. I told her she was probably dreaming (there was no fog at this point of the evening) and everything was ok. As we continued on towards rt 495, she saw a lonme figure standing in the middle of the left lane twice, about 3/4 of a mile past the first incident and again about a 1/3 of mile further.
at this point she was wide awake, and i had turned off the radio and was really paying attention, hoping to see something, be it a stranded motorist trying to flag down help or a specter of some sort. less than half a mile from her last sighting I began to hear a woman scream outside of the car. There was no other traffic on either my side or the other side of the highway, and the screaming went on for a good 3-5 seconds. i tried to get my recorder out in time but with road conditions what they were and the brevity of the phenomena was unable to get anything. The srtange thing about the screaming was even as we moved down ther road, it stayed with us at the same volume and pitch. I asked my girlfriend if she heard anything and said she had heard the sceaming as well, but also a low mumbling that preceded it. All of this took place between exits 37 and 39 on route 2 Eastbound at approximately 1-2 AM. We had not been drinking or anything like that, and i have driven this stretch of raod countless times throughout my life without ever having any experiences remotely similiar to this.
I would describe the screaming as hysterics, but toward sthe end started to sound like words, but i could not make anything out for sure.
Im looking to find history on that stretch of road, and would appreciate any thoughts, info, or comments.
