In Ben MacDhui, Scotland, hikers and others have reported a 'Big Gray Man' haunting the mountain. However, he is always sighted when mist or thick fog rolls in.

However, footprints about 14 inches long, were seen along the mountain.

Sorry if this is a bit short; don't know how much time I have left on here.

My question, though, is: are there any photographs of the footprints?

I bet they are spirits, Scotlands full of spirits, such as the specteral Black Dog, the Boggart, the Banshee, and castles are full of spirits of the previous occupants. These Gray men are probably another additon to the Scottish spirit family. I gotta google this.

The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui is said to be the possible guardian to a dimensional Gateway, and is said to roam ben MacDhui which is in the Cairn Gorms mountain range. Apparently you hear strange music and a deep, ghostly laughter. Thing is, the mountains around here are fairly otherworldly once you get to a certain level anyways, plus on the larger ranges you're no doubt going to run into a few problems like oxygen deficiencies etc. I remember last year on a field trip to Loch Tay, we spent a few days doing insect population studies on a mountain called Creag Garbh. it was just short of being christened a Munro and had some spectacular, if rather ethereal and serene, scenery on its slopes. Would be very easy for an active imagination to begin to stray onto more frightful things... Plus the fact a hipflask of Whisky is the best thing to get the blood pumping again when the fatigue begins to set in;)

Keep meaning to head out there some time, as the Gorms are only maybe 40 miles away at most? I'm not too sure, but they're not overly far.

Yur! Some believe it's he's the guardian to the gate of the Spirit World. I think so too. You start to hear him sing, put that hip flask away! you've had quite enough spirit for mnow, miladdo! wink2.gif laugh.gif

In the original Gaelic, its name is Am Fear Liath Mòr. it is a (supposedly) evil presence or creature that lives on the summit of Ben MacDhui. People climbing the mountain sometimes get an overpowering feeling of terror, hear footsteps in the gravel behind them when there is no-one there, see dark blotches 'on the sky' and in extreme cases run back down and occasionally manage to stumble over cliffs in the process. My uncle went up Ben MacDhui a few years ago. I asked him about Am Fear Liath Mòr. He said that he had heard of it, but never sensed it. One thing's for sure, I am never climbing Ben MacDhui!
