Don't know much about modern Greece, but ancient Greece rocks! After all, Western civilization owes so much to ancient Greece. BTW, thanks! thumbsup.gif

And welcome! original.gif

yes I have visited greece many times and on my first visit in 1967 I was privileged to be able to sleep at the temple of delphi and I found it a very spiritual experience. There were not many tourists there then! My greatest wish is for the Parthenon at Athens to be rebuilt and the Elgin marbles to be restored to their original place.

I've never been to Greece, but I'd like to one day. As for ancient Greece I think they have influenced so many people in so many countries. Their myths and legends are some of the most well known, their literature, art work, and even their politics (democracy). I beleive that without the ancient Greeks the Romans possibly wouldn't have existed as they did. Seeing as virtually all of Roman culture was based on that of the Greeks.

I was born on the Greek Isle of Scopelos, quickly moving to the USA for my father's business.
I love the ancient Greek myths as well as the wonderful modern day Greek traditions. I am Greek Orthodox, but I never went to Sunday school after I moved to the USA...

I'm off to stoupa in the morning grin2.gif I've been to most of the greek islands and loved every one of them, the greek people are very friendly and the food is excellent, if history's your reason for visiting the greek islands do your homework, earthquakes in the 50's destroyed all the buildings on some of the islands.

Ancient Greek is da bomb! Especially Spartans. Hard to believe that the way of life that made them so successful, was what brought their people to their ends.

I know some ancient Greek philosphy, about ancient Athens and Sparta, current Athens, myths, gods, ancient way of life, food, culture, something about an island going into the ocean, and their contributions to the arts, sciences, math, architecture, and politics (the invention of democracy). thumbsup.gif

Greece is an absolutely wonderful, beautiful country, especially the islands. The amount of history, the climate, the Mediterranean...it really is my favorite country, always has been. I think I'll move there someday original.gif

I am a Canadian of Greek (Spartan) descent. I have lived in Greece as a child and have visited it on numerous occasions. To me Greece is a beautiful, mystical place with a rich and ancient history.
