Excellent post Big cheese! I remember you posting in the belief thread I created sometime back.

Yes, nothing can be proved or disproved because the basis of every religion is so very vague. Each believer believes that his reasoning and molding of religious beliefs of god are the most pious and noble ones.

Man has developed several mechanisms to succeed and basically survive. Religion is also such a mechanism that most people depend on. You were right when you said that it's a coping mechanism. Belief is important because it gives you something to lean on and also motivates you psychologically to give your best. While beliefs themselves might be full or crap, they still work for you in certain ways but certainly not in ways that most religious believers think.

Most religious believers tune themselves and bank on their faiths to such an extent that questioning their beliefs will only weaken them. They do not dare to question because they are afraid to find answers that will shatter the foundations of their survial mechanism. It would leave them absolutely listless, so they would prefer to be in their comfort zones than see more reason and go against the school of thinking that they have grown up with and got accustomed to.

Ah, revenge. An understandable earthly desire. Here's the part where you have to
think: "HMMMMM, is this revenge or justice?" I understand that you want revenge for your mother, but beating the crap out of someone who now most likely a VERY VERY old man is really not going to solve anything rofl.gif

ahh but revenge is sweet exe11er, and i think if someone beat up my mom, i would love to get back at them, hurt them 3 times as bad as they hurt her, also, it would be against my religion to do nothing, the 5th satanic statement-Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek. so i would have to do something about it, or i would be going against what i believe original.gif original.gif original.gif

beleive it or not, parent arent perfect, not even yours. they ARE capable of making bad decisions. if your dad told you to jump off a cliff to your death, and was serious. would you?
and i dont think hitting your kids is right.

whats better? learning out of fear, or learning out of experience?

LOL yes. I mean decisions like taking away your tv or computer, or hitting you when you swear at them, or when you do drugs or something like that. Though I doubt any parent would tell their child to jump off a cliff.

You need a combo of both fear and experience, but when you have fear, you learn real well, trust me, I know yes.gif

the first satanic statement? Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence

1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence!

2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams!

3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!

4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates!

5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek!

6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires!

7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his “divine spiritual and intellectual development,” has become the most vicious animal of all!

8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!

9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years!

I am god. laugh.gif

Na i believe in the m theory. Hell i barely believe this all even exists since nothing proves anything w/o using common tools. Like you can prove there is no god and maybe even why but you can only do it using mechanics known to this universe making it contridict its self.

But then again i do have a globe in my garage where i can slap oceans and cause tsunamis. laugh.gif

I think the Bible can't have it all backwards...there's too much common sense and wisdom beyond that time...things like Proverbs and the ten commandments and many other "rules" go a long way towards a cleaner, less diseased world. I'm not one hundred percent sure of the complete accuracy, but I don't think it should be completely disregarded.

First, the Ten Commandments existed in ancient cultures long before the Hebrews wrote them down and gave them their own spin. Second, read those commandments in their entirity, and you will see that the death penalty is called for if any of them are broken. Third, which set of the the Ten Commandments are you referring to? There are two different sets--Exodus 20 (recap listed in Deuteronomy 5) and Exodus 34?

Kindly,

Well let me tell you a little story. When I lived in my country, teachers were allowed to hit the kids. One time, I got a math question wrong, and the teacher slapped me in the face (this was no soft slap, hard as hell). So anyway, the point is, from then on, I did my work and became an A+ student. Read the 10 commandments.....how many of them tell you how to morally treat your follow human being?

How many tell you how and what you should do for your God?

Check either set of commandments....... thumbsup.gif

Proverbs....There are many different Proverbs from around the world and some have more....wisdom and common sense (as you put it) than the ones from the Christians Bible.

actually, if you read the ten commandments, all they are is ten basic instincts that all aniamls have, and the christian church doesnt think that humans are animals, they think we are better, so they try to ban mankinds carnal nature.

WE... CANT... PROVE... GOD... EXISTS...

Respect everyone else's beleifs or don't post here... Jesus was just a man. The Bible, to me is pure fiction, but if that's really what you choose to beleive in... fine, as long as you don't get all preachy on me

I'll also point out that it's not the first time that you've bashed others beleifs...

The reason i say Jesus was just a man is because there is overwhelming evidence that he existed... but wasn't the son of God. I think you'll find the reason Jesus gets the boot these days is because of the controversy shrouding the christian religion. To me, it just contradicts itself far too many times to be factual. "Eternal suffering awaits anyone who questions the universal and infinite love of God"? hmm.gif that does't make sense...

Unless you can show me undebateable proof that God exists, i'll continue not beleiving. To me it is utterly pointless to point at birds singing in the trees to prove he exists because it doesnt. And as for telling me i'll go to Hell... fine.. i don't beleive in Hell at all
saucy
interesting...I question God all the time. Am I going to hell? No. To doubt is normal. And God doesn't send anyone to hell. If someone goes to hell, it's because he or she has intentionally ignored everyone around him and actually pushed away the saving hand of God. It's your choice. The bible says that "God is not willing that any should perish." You choose--separation from Him, which you seem to have choosen or eternal life with Him. He says that if you ask Him to reveal Himself to you and you mean it, He will.

it's not that I ignore it.
