either that or they dont make any sense to you or you assume that since atheist dont believe in god they are therefore not superstitous and always right . It seems that your responses to the answers also show that you didn't understand the answer .

It seems more likely to me that you are quickly reading through the posts of others with the belief they are an idiot before you even finish , as your rebuke of them has shown you did not get the point at all . This does not meen the reply is automatically stupid .

no no, its because they generally don't come up with decent answers ( ones that can't be rebuked)

i only read a post and believe they are an idiot if they add nothing to an arguement other than the usual "Jesus is great, burn in hell" or they believe Osama Bin Laden is from Mars:P As for not getting the point, care to give an example?

QUOTE (crosswarrior @ Jan 2 2004, 01:44 AM)

"Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not where you go, and how can we know the way? Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:5-6.

"Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:10-12.

As I said, this can be viewed in a number of ways. In John Jesus goes on to talk about the work he was doing, and the things he taught. Personally I take these statements to mean live how he did. Be tolerant, patient, and forgiving. He also said that the things he was able to do all men will be able to do. Perhaps he meant we would "Evolve" as he did?

It doesn't really matter to me either way. As stated before I'm not atheist by any means. But I attend Native American ceremonies. To many Christians this is not seen as "Christianity". They seem to think that I will not enter heaven. Yet at these ceremonies several different religious leaders attend (including Christian). You don't have to change your beliefs to attend a ceremony, as we believe it's all the same. A lot of people that are Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto, etc. accept that Jesus is the child of God, but aren't we all? I am fortunate enough to have friends from different religious backgrounds, and the more I talk to them the more I realize there isn't that much of a difference. If someone is an atheist, there's usually a good reason why. It doesn't bother me, why should it? Many friends I've had that were atheist eventually changed, and stated that they always wanted a reason to believe, something besides blind faith or fear. Because of the understanding that others had they were able to witness some amazing things. Also, some people very close to me have gone on vision quests, fasting for four days. Some have fasted for FORTY days. You'll find similar things in the Bible. These people are great people, they help the community in so many ways. I will not accept they would be punished for not worshipping within the Christian "Norm". Also, these ceremonies and ways existed long before Christianity, and the beings who started them are definitely beings of light. As far as the Bible goes, I do not totally rely on it because my beliefs don't mirror it. I do not believe that humans are the masters of the Earth, and the animals, to do with as we please. I could not be so arrogant. but what you believe is your right, but to tell others that they will suffer for theirs is not up to you. You have the choice to do that, but it will not be received well.

Back to the topic, the Native tribes here in America have many stories of a time when there was no difference at all between humans and animals. Evolution is not controversial within their societies because animals in many respects are superior to humans. They taught us how to live in many ways.

As far as being nowhere to be seen, my last post remained up unanswered for what, two or three days?

HUH - dude wake up I was not referring to you - I was talking about someone named Codiac who posted like on page 1 or 2 many moons ago.....pay attention!

I only heard one person insult your beliefs, Sabrina. The rest have only provided info or opinions on evolution, or even their own religion. The belief that we came from apes, or hominids, does not harm you or your religion. It does not specify in the Bible wether we did or did not evolve from apes. "Let us make man in our own image". What exactly does God look like? Or, to be more precise "Us"? But to the point, you take that one person's insulting remark and lash out at everyone who has different beliefs than your own.

As far as God writing your post, than I must say that the god who is possessing your body is very different from the god I or Jesus has come to know.

I think you need to read this entire post from beginning to end because I don't think you know what you are talking about.

I merely stated at the beginning of this post that I did not believe in Evolution. I realize it does not go against my religion. It is something I do not choose to believe in. Then I made a comment about Adam and Eve and then I was attacked for it by Codiac. I therfore had the right to defend myself. And so it began.

Just look around this site - everyone "tollerates" or "respects" everyones religion EXCEPT Christianity. The moment you try to witness you are being a hypocrit. The moment you quote the Bible your an uneducated hick who "still believes that story." The moment you profess to be Christian is the moment people on this site start throwing stones.

This was my point to Codiac - I had no beef with anyone but him when I reposted on this topic. HE is the person that has not been around.

Do you have any idea what it is like to have to keep your mouth shut in order to keep the peace when you disagree with one of your friends religion? I don't want to make posters on this board but I am going to start saying what I feel God would want me to because I am not doing my job as a Christian and being a good witness. Now maybe I need some practice - I was a bit brutal the other day but then again I was upset.

Do you have any idea what it's like when you speak up about your beliefs and are ridiculed for them?

I would venture to say the answer to both of these questions is no.

I'm a bit confused as to exactally waht you want me to do when I post. Sit idly by and do nothing or say nothing. Who do you think I am a meek and mild? Buddy let me tell you had I seen that post earlier I would have replied when it was made instead of a month later.

So if you want to take my post where I specifically addressed Codiac and say I was lashing out thats fine. But I was not. I was merely stating what I saw.

Oh wait wait there were others after I posted that weren't there - perhaps you are suggesting I shouldn't have replied to them either because heaven forbid I lash out at someone and tell them waht I think. Just how would you have liked me to state how I felt and believed. You act like I should be timid little mouse and not say anything. Bull crap bucko. If you want to get someones attention you got to put your foot down!

And as for the God writting my post reference I was meerly being symbolistic.

Read the entire post before you give me anymore crap.

And I also want to add that your getting into heaven is between you and God - if he wan'ts to let every religion in thats fine with me but thats not what his book says. If he views Native American rituals as Christian - great. I merely abide by what he says I don't judge anyone I have never looked at someone and said you are going to hell nor would I ever.

Well said anirbas , especially on the mark that people seemingly like to attack christianity the most ( Oooooh ... I wonder why that is ? rolleyes.gif ) and call it uneducated bs as if their beliefs where just automatically superior . What would happen if I started a thread and said all wiccans were uneducated hicks ? I would be kicked of the forum by a mod .

What happens when people who have not even read the bible ( Which by some of the posts in this thread its obvious NONE of the atheists here have read it , only a few segments ) start flaming christianity ? Nothing , just some christian replies to the flame and as far as I see NOBODY has yelled at anyone they are going to hell , NOBODY has used nothing but bible quotes to suppress a claim ( Unless the atheists directly asks something about the bible ) NOBODY here has preached hellfire . Yet christians are still ridiculed and called unintelligent / uneducated / stupid by someone who has not even read the book ! That has to be the true stupidity envoloped in these conversations , the fact that those flaming christianty are the true ignorant hicks , as they havent even read the book and they are therefore the ones who are truly uneducated .

Enough is enough is enough. It's quickly becoming obvious that a civil, well mannered and inoffensive debate cannot be maintained whenever a topic involves God, Christianity or religious beliefs. Nothing is ever resolved and to be brutally honest, the petty bickering is becoming tiresome. Sabrina and Xenojjin make a valid point, this thread is closed.
