Hi guys, thanks for taking the time to read my story.

It all happened yesterday when me and my cousin Jeff were going to sleep. We were downstairs. We couldn't quite fall asleep so we decided to watch some family guy before going to bed. When the episode was over, we both said goodnight and drowsed off to sleep.

We weren't exactly asleep. We were sortof half asleep but not completely. Anyways.. about 10 minutes after family guy was over, I heard a very silent but very close voice softly say "hey." I then was a tad startled. I opened my eyes and said "What Jeff? What is it?"

He sayed.. "Nothing marc." Then I asked him if he heard a voice, he quickly replied that he heard a voice say hey but he said that he just tryed to ignore it. I thought that the voice might have been just in my head seeing I was almost asleep. This is what Jeff thought aswell. All the windows were shut so It couldn't have been someone outside.

The morning of the voice, we watched the excorcist if that had anything to do with it. What do you think of this?

-Thanks!

we watched the excorcist

There lies you problem. You seem to be of a very impressionable kind so watching horror movies makes you even more impressionable. There are three explanations for what you heard.

1) Your friend whispered "Hey" and then lied that he said in order to scare you
2) It was some noise from the surroundings that you misinterpreted as "Hey"
or the most fun one
3) You really DID hear someone other than your friend whisper "Hey".

The question is which one is the most probable? This depends on whether you are a skeptic or not a skeptic. If you're a skeptic you will choose 1 or 2, if you're not then you will choose 3 followed by a conspiracy theory perpetrated by ghosts. The choice is yours, whether you accept that this is not a big deal and that there is a natural explanation and move on or you dedicate the rest of your life and all your time to investigate who whispered the ominous word, is entirely up to you.

Sometimes I hear my mother calling out my name when I sit at home even though my mother is at work. All I hear is some noise that my brain takes and translates it into something familiar such as my mother calling me by my name which happens very often. The brain has a natural tendency to turn find meaningful patterns in something unrecognizable, which explains why people look at clouds and find meaningful patterns such as animals, people, or in my case, a triple cheeseburger with seasoned fries and a side of mashed potatoes.

Now Tiger, that wouldn't be you using another name would it.
marik
Alright, those sound like reasonable explanation Tiger.
My cousin did not whisper it though. Because when I asked him "did you hear that" he then said.. "it sounded like someone said hey." He wouldnt lie. He's not that kinda guy.

But after the whole thing happened, we slept upstairs.

What name? "Tiger23" is the only username I have. Are you asking if "Tiger23" and "marik" are same person who is me? Are you saying that I make up stories under one username and then proceed to debunk them by using another user name and then accuse both of the two usernames "Tiger23" and "marik" of being same person by using a third username?

In other words it's like this:

This is all the same one person who uses different usernames:

I post a story under username "marik"
I switch to another username "Tiger23" and post a reply to "marik" saying that he is too gullible
I switch again to "marik" and say that Tiger23's post makes sense.
I switch again to another username and accuse both "marik" and "Tiger23" of being the same person.
I switch again to "Tiger23" and post a reply that says that the only username I use is Tiger23.
I switch again to a fourth username and tell everyone to calm down and to get along with each other even though I'm really talking about one person.

In order to do that I would have to be some evil genius mastermind, which I'm not, and that's I'm a very nice guy, which I am.

There's nothing to be sorry about. You didn't do anything wrong. I was referring to the misunderstanding that ericraven had when she thought that I was using two usernames, mine and yours ohmy.gif

marik said, "those sound like reasonable explanation Tiger."

Of course it sound reasonable, I'm the one who said it. wink2.gif So what conclusions have you come up with regarding your experience?
marik
Okay my conclusion is..
I think it was another noise but my brain (like you said) made it in to a word. Example: something could have fallen and then it sounded a bit like "hey" plus I was very tired. And the exorcist fact was the icing on the cake. I'm still not sure though and I would like more posts on the topic. Thanks for helping tiger23 original.gif

No problem. I'm always glad to help. thumbsup.gif

Wow! I can't believe that I actually helped someone else to reduce their fear or anxiety, even by a small amount and even if they're still not sure. For three years I have fantasized about helping other people and make their life better and now I finally made a first step towards achieving that goal. I know that I probably sound very superficial and seem like I'm making a really big deal out of nothing, but this a very gratifying feeling and experience for me, as well as a huge accomplishment. Yesterday, my reason for registering to this forum and posting replies was to make fun of the people who post about supernatural events by using sarcasm and pretending that I believe in this stuff also. Which is why one of the members here, I think ericraven2003 who suspected me of using two usernames because in one post I seemed that I believe in this stuff and in another that I don't. Now, I want to post replies in the hope that I will reduce other people's fears and anxieties and maybe make their life a little better. I know it sounds very cheesy but this is really how I feel.

Good for you Tiger23. What a great goal to have. With an outlook like that, I'm sure you have many years of helping other people ahead of you. thumbsup.gif

I kid you not this has happened to me, and it has also happened to my brother.
I was alone when I was lying in bed and I heard someone whisper my name in my ear. It was like they were inches from my ear. I wasn't even asleep. I told my brother about it and he said he had the same experience before too. I think it was when we were visiting our uncle Johnson's house on two separate occassions. We're both convinced there's something strange about that house. But it's happened one other time to me at my mom's too. I told my boyfriend and he thinks I'm mildly schizo. Hmmmm....it is hereditary, so I suppose it's a possiblity. That's even scarier to me than ghosts. sad.gif
