i heard you and some other guy saying eyewitneses are not evidence.
An eyewitness is evidence. If you were accused by an old lady saying she got bashed by you off the streets, an eyewitness is evidence to whether you did bash her or not. samething applies if you got accused for killing a man and it was a shark that actually killed him.

Good point, but when you're talking about science, some terms have a slightly different meaning. Click. The difference being, it has to be observed using 'scientific method'.

Yeah but you can just as easily say the same things about mermaids and vampires. So why are fire-breathing animals any different? I'm not mocking you in any way Creeper, you should know me better than that by now. I'm just making a point dude. I mean, there are plenty chemicals that combust on contact with air. An animal just needs to be able to "spit" this combustable liquid which ignites upon contact with air. It's just as plausable, you know.

right an animal has liquid that lights on fire when it touchs air, and it is still able to get air in to its lungs, right sure rolleyes.gif

If an animal did have a chemical like what RKD described, it's not as if it would flood the body and come into contact with every organ; it could be isolated. We have natural things in our body, which I'm sure would be deadly if they were in the wrong place; but no, that doesn't happen.

heres a question ( and don't go asking this question about you know what) WHY? why would a animal fly and have fire breath, how would that fit in evolution?

How do mermaids and vampires fit into evolution? Not being funny, but why is a dragon less possible then anything else?
Raptor
QUOTE

Flying: Gives an animal the ability to escape from a predator, to hunt more effectively, to travel longer distances (offers an advantage to find a mate/improved living space).

Fire: To hunt prey, defense from predators, warmth.

How would it fit in with evolution?
You have 2 dragon type creatures which are identical apart from one thing; one of them has the ability to fly. They go hunting and both start chasing a smaller animal, the dragon which can't fly ends up losing its prey; whereas the flying one catches up with his. The flying dragon has something to eat, the other ends up starving and dies. The flying one passes on it's genes; and then the next generation can fly. ohmy.gif

Same goes for the fire. Two identical creatures, except one can breathe fire. Some predators come along, and start attacking them. The one which breathes fire defends itself and doesn't get killed, the other which can't breathe fire gets eaten. The fire breathing one passes on it's genes, the next generation can now breathe fire. ohmy.gif

(Before someone comes and gets technical with me, I know evolution isn't just as simple and as fast as that, I just exaggerated it to make a point. tongue.gif )

Also, no, I don't believe in dragons at all. Just trying to show that dragons are just as conceivable as any other cryptid that you believe in.

Okay, seeing as you don't want me to mention 'you know what', I'll try and be vague.

Why is this cryptid different to any other, or any bit less concievable? There have been just as many sightings (if not more), there's just as much evidence (almost nil, but still, just as much as almost any other cryptid) etc.

What like how venomous animals have specialised organs and venom sacs that keeps the venom separate from the animal's system? Right sure. I'm sorry to have to say this but: You're 15. I'm 21. You're in what, 10th grade or whatever (our equivalent over here is 4th Year), I've just graduated with a Batchelor Science with Honours, in Zoology no less. Come on dude. Bit more proffessionalism eh? Remember he's only 15. you wouldn't poke fun at a 15 year old if you came across them otherwise would you? He's just quite naiive, poor guy, maybe led a bit of a sheltered life. I mean I know that a fair chunk of the time he tries to delve into something he doesn't know about (or enough about), and ends up way out of his league, but that doesn't warrant making cheap shots and low jokes at his expense, now does it? I know we all do it, including me at times, but it really isn't fair. The fact he still comes here is a miracle unto itself. Some folks can be really harsh. I mean, fair enough if the guy was 30 or 40, but he's 15! When I was 15 I was riding about on my bike thinking about girls, and knew everything (just like every 15 year old boy)! Patience and tollerance are two things that help to allow a mentality to blossom into something powerful. There's something amazing and beautiful between learning to use your intellect and taking it for granted. Remember that. Sure in a couple of years he'll probably look back at his posts and think "Oh Hell! What the hockey puck did I say that for!?"

WOW. For a guy who reckons he has a sense of humour, you struggle with some of my jokes. Maybe I'm a a bit dry huh.

I said in the other thread, thecreeper must be doing ths on purpose. He comes in, makes a wild claim and then argues the point without fact or reason. He is a flamer. I have 2 teenagers in my house right now. I am used to them thumbsup.gif I always took his fiery offensives to be a playful banter. No serious name calling is going on or kicking when one is down. We simply ask he back his claims - K thumbsup.gif That all right? I must say I am amazed at the support he gets. I would have thought him to recieve the opposite, scientific minds being valuable and all that. He does have a penchant for cheesing intelligent people off.

How about the thinkers he challenges in here with still notions like muntant hybrids?? Surely he deserves a thourough ribbing for such outrageous notions. We dry old stalwarts like a little fun too thumbsup.gif Go Easy - Not very tolerant of you there. (in retrospect perhaps I should mention the last line was meant to be taken tongue in cheek, ahhh back to descriptive posts *sigh*)

I do not know why the fire thing keeps coming up. Can't see it has been mentioned by the thread starter. Still, it is the insect world that has a handle on producing chemical combustion isn't it? Considering an insect as a possible alternative.
The whole scenario is obviously a case of mistaken identity. It would be intersting to know what even looks like that in BC though. Frogfishes lizard suggestion seems the most sound, but wrong part of the world. Even escaped pets of that description would die pretty quick I would think in an environment so different from their own. Sounds too big to mistake for an insect. Perhaps look at the local reptile and amphibian life.
Urisk
Yeah I guess it was just after reading so many folk that sounded like it was ganging up on him. I don't see him as a flamer personally, I just see him as a bit of an immature kid; maybe led a bit of a sheltered life, doesn't have as much worldly knowledge as the rest of us, but strives to be accepted as someone like that because maybe he even looks up to us and aspires to be like one us us "zoobies" but just lacks the cold hard knowledge on the subject. The enthusiasm's there, just not the experience grin2.gif
It wasn't personally aimed at you, Psyche. just everyone. I just think that every thread at the moment seems to turn into a "let's get Creeper"; I think it was just that Mermaid poll that did it for me. I guess I'm still kinda disgusted by the ignorance and pettiness that was displayed there (although I admit that even I had a hand there too).
True he can be an annoying little goit at times, but riling him up and inticing confrontation is not really very mature of any of us. It's not a good example to the younger people here. I appologise for my bluntness in my rant earlier.
Psyche, you should know that I do have a sense of humour. I'm afraid it stops at being at the expense of others though. God knows, I had quite a hard time at school because I never fitted in, so I guess it's just a bit of a personal thing. But anyhoo, rant over, and everything's explained so, still buds? w00t.gif

Or maybe it was a type of bat...who knows? If it was the daytime in summer, though, that's very unlikely. There are four possible explanations:
1) It was an undiscovered species
2) It was a gliding lizard that escaped from a nearby zoo or reptile collection
3) You were hallucinating for whatever reason
4) You're making all this up...

I like the idea of a bat though. pipistrelles are very small, and I guess the muzzle from certain angles could be mistaken as looking slightly equine. They look more mouse or dog-like though.
