Woman shocked by double birth
A woman gave birth to twins a few hours after finding out she was pregnant.
Shocked Carly Coleman from Hailsham, East Sussex gave birth to 5lb 2oz Lilly-Ella shortly after her waters broke.
As Lilly-Ella arrived, they found 4lb 9oz Harry "hidden" behind her.
Carly didn't realise she was pregnant because they grew at the top of her womb behind the ribcage.
Her partner Paul Sexton said: "There was no sign or symptoms at all. I've barely picked myself off the floor from the shock of it all."
He added: "When the hospital called I thought they'd tell me I had one baby - but two?"
linkSeriously how do you not know you are pregnent there are obvious signs.
I cant believe this. i can understand a baby hiding behind another baby but sooner or later you will notice both. I dont know this is crazy

She had 9 pounds of baby plus however much placenta and amniotic fluid "behind her rib cage" and was not in serious pain? I get a gas pocket near my diaphram and I think I'm going to die in agony.

There are many reported cases where the woman did not realise she was pregnant, mostly because she did not gain enough weight to be noticed, didn't get morning sickness or other obvious signs and even continued to bleed small amounts monthly or they are on a combined contraceptive pill and skip the placebos (and also their periods). It is reasonably rare, but it does happen and it doesn't require stupidity. Rather, genetics sometimes plays a role and some lucky people don't get to experience all the not-so-wonderful symptoms of having children.
Twins, and unprepared... good luck to them.

Heck I'll count myself lucky if I were them, imagine giving birth to twins without going through all of that pregnancy symptoms, and a set of babies at that! And hopefully those kids are healthy since I'll assume that they never took any medicinal tablets for healthy pregnancy and babies. Just hope they appreciate their babies like all of the others who are having problems conceiving them in the first place.

Strange story. I really can't understand how a woman can have two babies
grow inside her and not notice. She must have been in some serious denial.

was she heavy set to begin with? did she just not notice that she gained 9 pounds? That still might seem a little scary if no symptoms showed up. Just one day her water breaks and out come two babies.

Surely she gained more than 9 pounds!

I can't imagine just suddenly having twins with no preparation, no baby shower, no coddling, no strangers touching you, etc.....

Hahahaha, this is something right out of a cartoon. It would've been funnier though if since they somehow didn't know they were pregnant, they were expressing their love, and the baby grabbed the guy.
Oh man. I would've died laughing at THAT news story, I tell you what.

I'm pregnant at the moment and the only "medical tablets" I know of for a healthy pregnancy are prenantal vitamins.
Like the others stated I'm surpised she didn't feel something. I know babies kick in the later months.

I agree.. if she felt no symptoms ie: morning sickness, or the back breaking bulge, you'd at least think she'd feel SOME sort of movement.. unless maybe she was quite overwieght?? I've heard of this sort of thing happening to women that are overweight, but NOT with twins.
I had TWINS (they are now almost 3 years old) .. they were born 4 weeks early - one was just not progressing, the other was doing VERY well. I had to have a C section - one was over 6 pounds, the other was barely 3 pounds.
I am 5'7" and currently 118 pounds.. but when I was even 4 months along with the twins, I
felt ALOT of movement going on! I KNEW the difference between GAS rumbles and foot dancing in there!
Purplos
Jul 8 2006, 11:14 PM
Oh good grief. I was extremely overweight when I had my first son. Being overweight doesn't make your unborn child stop moving. Jeesh... Or do you think overweight women's bellies just jump all around all the time or something? I could very easily tell I was pregnant as well. Something is still growing in there - pushing out everything else that is on top (ie. the fat).

Firstly Congrats. Also like you said she should have felt the movement. The article said they were high up near her ribs or whatever my sister was a high baby and when she kicked my mum in the ribs she felt it!
I also asked my mum if its possiable not to notice your pregnant she said she didnt notice my brother until he started kicking and moving. She said that she already had problems with her cycle so thought nothing of the missins mensturation. But she said too that when you go into labour you dang right notice that baby then

Not looking like your pregnant doesn't infer one being overweight. I am almost 5'8 and weighed 120 lbs when I became pregnant with my son. My pregnancy wasn't even noticeable to the extent that my own mom started doubting that I was pregnant at around 7 mos. My son was stuffed up in my ribcage, too, and all I had to show for it was a tiny little tummy after gaining 20 lbs. I didn't show until the last month and my son was born weighing in at 8 lbs 10 oz. If it hadn't been for all the vomitting, the feet kicking in between my ribs and my cat (she was a good pregnancy detector, 100% accuracy), I probably wouldn't have known I was pregnant either because of a history of missed cycles. I do wonder if her babies are okay though. They sound pretty underweight and, like I said, there is NO missing a kick on the inside of a ribcage...it hurts just remembering it.

that's true

however, there are some babies that just don't kick and when they do its very minute and hardly noticeable so this could explain it

When my Mum was pregnant with me, she didn't have any morning sickness, nor any huge weight gain, and I didn't kick or move a whole lot either. Sometimes people just have quiet babies. Like I said earlier, I think it's partially genetic, because my pregnancy is turning out very similar. The only sign I've noticed is a dull period-like pain as the ligaments stretch. However, I have endometriosis so pain like that is nothing new for me!

I've read/heard something with a similar case.. Some girl after playing basketball (or some kind of sports) had tummy aches, went to the doctor and soon after gave birth.
Silly, but things like these do take place.
Even more bizarre was the fact that some girl got sperminated in a swimming pool without actual contact with the guy

there is an episode of Chicago Hope where this happens. a chick is brough in hand cuffed to her mom. Her mom says she thought her daughter was getting fat from overeating. (i cant remember why they were handcuffed) but anyhoo they are at hospital for the mum who is having chest pains or something. The the daughter gets stomach pains. but no doctor helps them (cause they are busy or something) The ma and the daughter end up leaving (still handcuffed) later in the show they come running back in to the ER the Mum says "I think my daughters waters just broke. It so cold outside that it instantly froze" or something like that. Anyhoo the daughter has twins and she goes on about how she never knew she was pregnant and she thought she kept eating cause she had a problem
