Pot noodle puts women in labour

A mum-to-be had a fiery Pot Noodle - and went into labour half an hour later.

Jacky Hardy was desperate for her baby to arrive so she tucked into a Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle.

The Bombay Bad Boy is the hottest in the range reports The Sun.

She told her partner Dave McLaren to use all the hot sauce when making the snack.

Half an hour later she went into labour. She was rushed her to hospital in Bath, Somerset, where daughter Frankie Sue was born.

Jacky said: "I'd had a hard pregnancy and my midwife was anxious that I didn't go over my due date. I was pretty massive and was getting fed up.

"I fancied a snack and got the Pot Noodle. It's one where you can make it hotter and hotter, depending on how much sauce you put in.

"I jokingly said to Dave, 'Put it all in', so he did. We then went out for a drive and within half an hour my contractions started.

"They say hot spicy food works for pregnant women and it certainly worked for me."

Good question. Maybe it's something like Oodles of Noodles that they sell here in
the US. Anyway, I hope the baby is OK.
coldethyl
It's sort of like Ramen Noodles but they are in their own little styrofoam bowls. They're huge in England. thumbsup.gif
frogfish
Ohhh, I have seen those before...

So it is just Oodles of Noodles under a different brand name. Thanks for clearing
that up for us.
Celumnaz

... im gonna geuss that was PURE COINCIDENCE!!

I mean seriously, how would hot sauce put you into labour?
all hot sauce does is burn your mouth
BurnSide
Pot Noodles are freaking awesome. That's one of the main things i miss from England, to be quite frank. laugh.gif I had one of the Chicken ones every single day. Pop the top, poor in boiling water, let it sit and give it a stir, and you got a hot pot of noodles, and bits of dried veg and chicken. laugh.gif I used to stick onions in it and all sorts extra.

Weird kid.

Someone in England wanna mail me a Chicken Pot Noods?

I've heard that spicy food can induce labour, no idea how, though.

0_0 I thought you were MEANT to put all the sauce in... but I guess i only did that because the packet called me a pansy, "you and whos army" pfftt

still, I dont find them all that hot. xD they should make a wasabi pot noodle, then that will seperate the men from the boys!
BurnSide
hahahah oh man that would be dreadful!
Felly
that baby couldn't stand the heat, so s/he had to get out of the kitchen!

Pot Noodle is very popular here. It's basically cook-in-the-pot de-hydrated noodles, vegetables and maybe some soya, and they make them in may different flavours. You have a sachet of sauce to add if you like.

To make it, you pour hot water into the pot up to the line and let it hydrate.. stir it a little.. and within minutes you have a hot noodle snack. They taste quite nice too.

They look like this.. my turkish mate used to raid my hotel room for these in turkey, for the chicken and mushroom ones.

I'm sure you can get this stuff sent to you from somewhere offline. We get Tom Horton's coffee from Canada sent to us here in the States. You should look around. If I was still in England, I'd send you a pot noodle. laugh.gif thumbsup.gif
BurnSide
You seriously get Timmies imported? That's beautiful! And, well, i can't blame ya. wink2.gif

They're opening up chains in the States soon, aren't you lucky hehe.

I think i should check the net. Maybe Marks N Spencer has a website i can order overseas food from.
frogfish
If you really want a kick, just pour some tamarind and chile powder into it...you can find those and your local Indian grocers...

im a big fan of hot sauces and foods, but if that can send a woman into labor... that must be some dam hot stuff
Saint
We call them Two Minute Noodles over here and they come in packets...

I don't see how chili could put a woman into labour, I think she expected it to work and so it did...

Hi All, I'm the father of the baby this story is about (Dave Mclaren), I found your site thanks to Google and saw all your lovely comments! I didn't for one moment think we'de quite become this 'famous' grin2.gif I know its a mad story but it is true, Frankie (the baby) was 3 days early and we'de only just left the hospital before we got home and Jacky had the pot noodle, Jacky even had CTG scan that didn't show any contractions.

For any non UK member the 'Bombay bad boy' pot noodle is VERY hot and yes it is like ramen noodles but stupidly hot!

If any member of this site would like to see more on Frankie I've made a website all about her www.frankiesue.com Theres pics, and all the links I could find on the net about her birth. Hope you enjoy, and I'll pop back. Peace.

In the UK we have a tradition of eating bizarre food. In Scotland, they take a mars bar (chocolate, soft nougat and caramel) and they deep fry it in batter. I have never had it is sounds repulsive!

In England especially, we have a penchant for insanely hot curry. The indians don't go above a korma, but in england we have invented the Vindaloo, and the Phaal. If you eat one of these, your eyes will water and your stomach will feel like it's about to incinerate itself.

.. and just be sure that you have a toilet handy as like Johnny Cash oncesang.. 'and it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire, the ring of fire'
