The first sighting occurred late one night as 3 17-year-olds drove home through the Boston suburbs of the Dover area. The driver, Bill Bartlett, reported seeing what at first he thought was a dog or cat, but a few seconds later saw to be a completely unearthly looking creature.

In amazement, Bartlett watched the animal, which he reported had a large melon-shaped head with 2 very distinct red eyes. It's body was thin and spindly, and completely hairless. It had long, thin toes and fingers, and seemed to be using them to grasp onto the pavement. Later on, Bartlett drew the sketch you see on the left of the strange animal. As if that wasn't enough, a few hours later, and over a mile away, John Baxter was walking home when he met the same creature walking along a path.

The next day, Abby Brabham noted a similar looking creature on the side of the road as she drove past. So what did these people see exactly?

what do you guys think?

Im pretty sure there have already been topics on this, but it is always an interesting subject nonetheless. I personally think it may be real, but then again I never dismiss a cryptid unless full blown out proof has been given as to why it couldnt exist.

When was this and where did you find the story?

agreed,
although id like to see an actual picture of this thing, not just one someone made on the pc as a sketch.
Thunderbolt
Well, it is most likely an alien, or (my thought) a small nocturnal primate of some sort

(pic not my artwork)
kenshinx
bald n ugly monkey ??
Necrodancer
Well, I think it could have been some kind of normal animal only in albino form. Like those albino rats or rabbits. They have white fur and red eyes. There's really nothing cryptic about it. Any creature has the capacity to be born with this "deformity". Its just more rare in some species. Now I will admit...the other features of the "Dover Demon" I can't place with any creature I've ever heard of/seen. So...I don't know.

Three 17yr. olds.....driving around at night.....coming from where? Does anyone know if alcohol was involved?.....I know, I know, what about John Baxter? Who did they report these sightings to? the Police? I sincerely doubt that......the source must be considered, not just the witnesses themselves.....but the reporter/publisher.....the link at the top takes me nowhere. How do we know it just wasn't some animal that was caught and shaved-down as sort of a prank and then released back into the wild? How many shaved-down animals has anyone seen before? any hairless animal looks pretty damn odd when first spoted...especially at night when visibility is limited.

Hmmmmm.....Dover Demon.....sounds like an ice cream bar......great, now I'm hungry.

Impressive.. I wonder what software he uses?

I love Cryptoray's pic, but I think the monster was pale white. Anyway, I think this monster is more like an alien than an Earth animal.
IIRC there was a pic of a photo of a creature similar to DD taken in Chile, the monster (it looks like an alien) is behind 2 men riding on 2 horses, the photo was analized and proved to be REAL.
If someone don't understand what is IIRC: If I Recall Correctly.

That was proven to be a stray dog that had it's pic taken at an odd angle which lent to the illusion of a "little being" walking across the road.....just a case of mistaken identity....and over-active imaginations.

Really? I don't know how it can be proved either way? The photo is too blurry. Pretty inconclusive, as always wink2.gif

Well, I said the PHOTO was real, not the CREATURE.

That's the weirdest stray dog I've ever seen! w00t.gif

Pardon me for my misunderstanding....and yes, I was a bit taken aback by the revelation that it was a dog.....but it is.

While I'm not sure how much of the phot has been faked or even IF it has been faked, that is NOT a dog. the posture is all wrong for a dog walking on it's hind legs. A dog on it's hind legs holds the front legs in front of it for when it drops to all fours. It's shoulders and front legs are not designed to swing like the arms on that creature are doing. It might be a monkey since the photo was taken in Chile. But it is NOT a dog.

There was an extensive thread on this subject at one time.....I'll see if I can locate it for you.

No prob, dude! thumbsup.gif

Anyway, it's really TOO strange for a dog, dogs can't walk that way with their hind legs, just as Captain Geek pointed, maybe it was a monkey as they are biped animals.
But I boubt it was a DD or an alien, the 2 cops would notice, looking at their expression, you can clearly note it's something known.
But the question is what?
NickFoot
Dover Demon could be a young moose... Moose eyes glow orange in headlights and have large heads when young... skinny legs...

The debate raged long into the night, lol.

Some of the theories put forward are: new species; mutation from a government experiment (*sighs*), supernatural being; baby moose (??????????!!); baby Grey or related species to the Greys
coldethyl
That is a very good cgi someone did, well done. But I seriously doubt that is what was roaming around. I'm going to vote for the shaved monkey because that would be a seriously groovy band name.

I see we are fighting over this again
It can't be a dog !!!!

Can it??

Here we go, for all that missed it first time around.

Very alien. alien.gif

They would recognize a dog when they see one, do they?

*shakes head* Definately not a doggie this one.
psyche101
Bah. The pics been debunked and the truth put on a plate for all to see.

Up to the individual as to wether you accept fact or live in a fantasy world. I know fantasy is a great deal more interesting, but the world of reality is not going to go away.

There is the pic 2 posts up with the outline showing how the pic was mistaken in the first place. Take it or leave it.
