I don't think they are "real" jobs either...you can't go to college and study Cryptozoology(can you?). What you do is write a book and get a rich guy to fund an exploration to find bigfoot...which you will end up not finding and owe the rich guy a lot of money...and then you will being studying the crpytos you find in a Big Mac
Darkwind
You could go into film and make documentaries on unexplained mysteries.

that is a real job! your dad doesn't know what hes talking about rolleyes.gif sounds to me like he didn't realize his dreams in life and there for is under the impression that its impossible to do so. let that be a lesson to you. STAY SINGLE! marriage by far is the biggest destroyer of dreams!

well you will just have to get a job to pay your way through college. its far from impossible. lots of people do that to get a better education yes.gif

Not true, really. Not any more expensive than any other 4 year degree at a university. I’ve returned to school at the age of 30-something and am majoring in anthropology and archaeology as a second career, with a minor in history. The field schools available for hands on experience are often times covered by your student grants and loans as they can be incorporated into the program and curriculum of the school being attended. My plans are to obtain my Bachelors, in addition to an alternative teaching certificate. This will allow me to teach school during the school year and work on digs during the summer months through contract archaeology.

For my Masters, I’ll be attending a university that offers a program in Nautical Archaeology in order to specialize in underwater excavations.

Here’s a good link with an FAQ for any questions you may have regarding education requirements and positions filled by archaeologists:

http://www.museum.state.il.us/ismdepts/anthro/dlcfaq.html

And another link to research what specific positions are available, education, pay, time scale, etc:

And the Yahoo group affiliated with the above website containing job postings, which is a good source of information while making a decision as to a career in archaeology:
