Sorry if this is an often asked question,

But after reading some of the topics, it's obvious that some of you guys are bona-fide ghost hunters.
I wouldn't want to try it out myself, it's a bit too close to scaryness for me.

But I wondered what kind of equipment you'd take along with you, obviously, I'd expect you to take a camera and a note book, but what other items do you think of as indispensible?
Also what about your personal protection? I take it with a poltergeist throwing items around, you'd need some head gear at least? Plus, after reading the Isabelle thread, I reckon you'd need something of a more etheral persuasion, I know that I certainly wouldn't want to leave a place and find that I've brought a 'souvenier' home!

Thanks in advance, and apologies for all these questions, I've always wanted to ask 'real' investigators about this stuff!

I think you will need these :

1. Pen and paper to take notes
2. Torch light with extra batteries
3. EMF meter
4. Thermal scanner
5. Camera with extra films
6. Video camera
7. Voice recording device
8. Motion sensor devices

I think that should be enough. If you are concerned about personal safety you might want to wear a helmet, but then it would be difficult to use your camera wearing a helmet

@Lionel, Thanks for that list, I'd have thought there'd be more stuff for some reason, would you take a plan of the building for example?

@ Cuffy, Mate, if for some bizarre reason we all ended up at one of these investigations, I reckon you and me'd be outside providing the tea and toast for the braver guys, trying our best not to ask "Did you hear something?"

I think Lionel has covered everything, except for a 'trigger' object and flour or talcom powder to dust around.

I'd recommend running shoes,Nike ones (good quality) just in case if something goes really wrong,RUN!

Aswell as these:

A poised forefinger. Preferably with nail clipped.

I usually take a six-pack, a Polaroid, and a couple friends. But then again, I'm not very scientific.

For some reason I'd have thought something with a face guard would be appropriate, with the possiblity of having potentially lethal shards getting airbourne.

Incidently has there ever been a case where an investigator has been injured?

Andrew Alexander received a smart crack on the knee from a wooden bowling ball at an inn in Somerset while taking a photograph.

How about we add a skeptical, not-easily-scared person to the kit? I've found that having someone who'll say "I didn't hear anything" and really mean it can be very helpful to keep everyone else calm and on-task. And of course, if the skeptic sees/hears the same things you do...yeah, you know...RUN! Umm, but snap some pics first.
