Boat thieves rescued after escape plan goes awry

Two men who stole a fishing trawler after missing their ferry have been rescued off the British coast, where they were going in circles because they did not know how to sail.

After hours at sea, the men called what they thought was the Irish coastguard for help.

"They thought they were just off the coast of Ireland," Ray Steadman said, press officer of the Holyhead lifeboat in north Wales, about 66 miles east of Ireland.

In fact, the two were just 19 kilometres north of where they started in Holyhead and had called the British coastguard, he says.

Lifeboats and a helicopter were sent out to rescue the men, who were detained by police before being released.

Boy criminals are stupid. There are so many stories like that. Just dumb as a box of rocks.

I agree. I think these two idiots flushed their brains down the toilet when they woke
up that morning. What kind of idiot steals a boat without knowing how to sail it.
They not only deserve to go to jail, they should be laughed at all along the way.

I think if you're going to commandeer a boat, you should know how to sail it first. Any good pirate would tell you that thumbsup.gif
