I realize that and all, but still, I love my religion, because it's not being criticized all the time and so far we don't have any record of violence, I'm pretty sure.

Unless you count the martyrdom of Bahai prophet (founder)Mirza Ali Mohammed Bab, and his execution, by firing squad, in 1850. And other of the Bahai faith history. (LINK) And per the Ba'b's own words;

""O Ulema! What you see in Quran, you will find in Bayan (A book written by Bab which he claims to be divinely inspired), and whatever you will not find in Quran, look for it in Bayan. My Bayan has abrogated Quran and Islam! Obey me before the sword comes out of the sheath.' "

How would you feel as a skeptic if god was proven or vice versa?

If proven for the God of the Christians, I would hike my butt to the store asap, buy a couple days worth of survival food then head to the nearest Church to start confessing. laugh.gif

If proven no god could exist... I'd run to the gas station, buy two five-gallon jugs of gas, then torch the nearest church. devil.gif

Thank you IF. But let me tell you something. The firing squad who shot the squad all later died. Half of them in an earthquake, and half of them turned on their commander and were shot. That's what we're told.

Anyway, just to let you know, bahaullah is the founder of the bahai faith. And the bahai's most holy book is the kitab-i-aqdas happy.gif

Forgive my being so bold as to dare offer a correction to the error of your understanding of your own faith. However, Mirza Hussain Ali was known as "Bahaullah" ("Glory of God"). He was the brother of the faiths original founder, Mirza Ali Mohammed, who claimed to be god and as such a prophet greater than Mohammad, and was appointed by Mizra as his successor. It was at this turn of succession that Bahaullah titled the faith; Bahaism. Whereas before this, i.e. before the death/execution of Mizra, it was known as Babism.

After the execution of Mizra, his body was hidden. Inturred in what was known as the "Imamzada Masoom's" tomb for 17 years and then was disenterred and sent to Palestine, per the instructions of Bahaullah. (Link)

Forgive my ignorance, but how were we off topic!? (The "Innocent" comment included) hmm.gif

The topic is asking for opinions on how the world would change in the future if a God where proven to either exist as a definate or be proven a falsehood.
I see that members are trying to extend on this topic, but some posts appear to be more about how the Church has behaved in the past.

As the topic is asking for people's opinions, then all of the opinions given must be treated as valid. And I don't believe that a couple of pages dedicated to disproving anothers opinion is necisary or on topic.

Which of course is The consequence of error. And not the actions of the past.

I'm alittle bit confused. Look, when I was growing up, we were taught that the bab came, and he told people to look our for the one who God shall make manifest.

"T.o.w.g.s.m.m. is bahaullah. He comes along and makes the bahai religion. Then his son abdulbaha comes along.

Abdulbaha then:

" In the Will and Testament, it was stated that `Abdu'l-Bahá's half-brother, Mírzá Muhammad `Alí should be the leader of the Faith after `Abdu'l-Bahá's death.

Go here if you don't believe me:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%ADrz%C3%...mad_%60Al%C3%AD

I'll quote for ya:

QUOTE
Mírzá Muhammad `Alí (1852-1937) (Persian: میرزا محمد علي‎ ) is the son of Bahá'u'lláh, the prophet-founder of the Bahá'í Faith.

See? bahaullah was the founder of the bahai religion. Bab founder of the Babi.

The author of your link is muslim. Muslims are bahai enemies.

Perhaps you are unaware of the Bahai Shrine in Haifa Israel.

Description: Below Yefe Nof Street, in Hazionut Street, are the beautiful Persian Gardens, with the Bahai Shrine, whose golden dome dominates Haifa. It contains the tomb of the founder of the Bahai faith, which has become its central shrine.

The founder of the faith was a Persian, Mirza Ali Mohammed, who in 1844 declared himself the Bab, the "Gateway" to God. After he was shot in Tabriz in 1850 his successor Mirza Hussein Ali, who took the name Baha-u-Illah, fled to the Ottoman Empire, where he proclaimed himself Imam in 1868. After being held in captivity in Akko for 24 years he died in 1892 and was buried near the present-day kibbutz of Shamerat, to the north of Akko. His followers secretly brought the remains of his predecessor Mirza Ali Mohammed from Persia to Palestine and in 1909 built his tomb in Haifa. The monumental dome over the tomb was completed in 1953.

Are you sure you sources are alright? I'll quote for you:
The Bábís (Persian: بابی ها‎ translit: Bábí há) are members of a religious movement that flourished in Persia from 1844 to 1852, then lingered on in exile in the Ottoman Empire (especially Cyprus) as well as underground. Its founder was Siyyid `Alí-Muhammad of Shiraz, who took the title Báb – meaning "Gate" – from a well-known Shi'a theological term. The implication was that Siyyid `Alí-Muhammad was an avenue through which continuing divine revelation could flow — a controversial and in fact dangerous position, as his execution shows.

For Bahá'ís, the religion brought by [b]the Báb is a predecessor
to their own religion, the Bahá'í Faith, which is now considerably larger than the Bábí Faith (whose adherents now prefer the name Bayani).
No the founder of the Bahai faith, but the Babism.

May I be so bold as to suggest that I know my own religion wink2.gif

Are you sure you sources are alright?

Yes his sources are right.

In the same year on 23rd May Mirza Ali Mohammed announced that he was ‘Bab’ (Gate) whereas Haji Karim announced himself to be the leader of the Shaikhiyya Sect. Another zealous student and influential follower of Sayed Kazim Rashti, Mulla Hussain accepted Mirza Ali Mohammed's claim of being the Bab. In return Mulla Hussain earned the title of "AWLA MAN AAMANA" (the first to believe). Within a short span, Mirza Ali Mohammed was able to gather 18 followers around himself. He gave them the title of "HURUF UL HAYY" (The letters of The Living) and set them out in different areas of Iran for propagation and he himself went to Mecca for performing Hajj, where according to one report he claimed to be "Mahdi" (The guided one).

Look, it's simple, Bab came, and Babism was created. Then he told to whach out for the "one whom god shall make manifest". Then he was killed.

Bahaullah came and said he was the one whom God shall make manifest. Bahaism was formed.

So what the hell are you guys arguing about?
