The question comes up every once and a while weather or not hell will be eternal for the dammed. Everyone on every level differs in their opinions concerning this topic and it has been disused in depth through out the ages. Hell is a eternal trash can. Hell is punishment eventually leading to salvation. Hell doesn’t exist at all and if one does not find the path to life they will simply cease to exist. The bible at first glance seems to suggest at lest some remain there for all time. But believing GOD to be all loving many of us are disposed to believe GOD will eventually let them out. Me personally, I would like to believe everyone (even the devil) will eventually rise to heaven. I would even like to believe we all just go to sleep and fade out of existence giving the fact that sleep is one of my favorite past times. But the reality that I see around me forces me to question those optimistic ideas. There are three observations that stand out and I will list them.

1. People stay in hell because they want to. I have a lot of experience in the ghettos of St Louis. I don’t know how many times I have heard “I’m living in hell. This is hell around here dog…” That very person who made the comment had a wad of cash in his pocket equaling more than 3000 dollars. More than enough to leave the urban hell he lived in. Yes he might consider it hell but he remains there because he wants to. The arm of the law is week there. He revels in the pride of being a gangster. Although at any given time one might be robbed, raped, assaulted and killed. Although the building literally look war torn and trash literally covers the ground he has made zero effort to leave. And although he may not love those around him he prefers their company to people he considers squares.

2. People stay in hell because the don’t believe they can escape. Abusive relationships are perfect examples of this. Although we know it is very possible to escape these relationships people remain in them because for one reason or another they don’t believe they can leave.

3. People stay in hell because of attitude. The common image of hell is tormented people crying up to heaven “we are sorry.” But looking at examples in this life I doubt they are sorry at all. Prison population is a good example. A great majority of people who go to prison and are let out, return for the same crimes. True they might be sorry they are in prison but not sorry at all for their crimes. They hate the law and those that enforce it. Although prison is a very real hell where one is raped and assaulted on a constant basis, it does not scare them. They are not sorry in or out.

There for in my opinion. If the life here after is anything like this one. People will remain in hell willingly for all eternity. Even if the possibility of escape is a real reality.

Jesus said “there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And they will probably occur in that order. After he is finished weeping for himself in the fire he will gnash his teeth in hatred. The charred arm of the dammed will then reach out of the flames with blackened middle finer in erect defiance of heaven smiling wickedly as his gums boil.

One thing i dont get is all this burning in hell stuff. When we die our body is no use anymore so no nervous system, so if we do by chance turn into spirits how can we burn.

Listen.

Why would you think God would even create a hell in the first place?

Hell is spiritual death, heaven is spiritual life.

Don't take no genius to figure that out sleepy.gif

The exact nature of hell is unknown. Although neardeath experiences range when one recalls a hellish experience they are all relatively consistent in their varying states. One says he felt fire all around him. One says he was immersed in perpetual darkness. A cop recalled his experience as being thrown into the trash dump of the universe. Running into grotesque violent creatures is also common.

So even if hell is not a place. Even if hell is simply ones experience of GOD outside GODs love. Even if hell is a perpetual dream. For all practical purposes it doesn't matter.

ITS A BAD STATE OF THE SENSES.

the changing .gif pictures are depicting...;

1) the devil is carrying sleepy people, after their day at the beach.
2) the devil with wings is blocking out the sun, because someones getting bad sunburn. (see, not so evil)
3) the lizard thing - that guys taking it off because those lizards just fall out of nowhere. (hence the shock. did I just say hence!? blink.gif )
4) just people having fun swimming in the sea
5) the people in those hollows in the cliff - they're just sleepy, and hell isn't a 5 star hotel you know.
6) the guys hanging from the roof via chains - they're just drying out, they were in the sea for quite a while, and we all know the soul's like a sponge.
7) the couldren - the big monster is really a giant teddy bear, and stores rice in its mouth to feed everyone. its everyones dinner time, swimming gets you hungry pretty quick.
8) and then the one with the demon on the throne in the centre - well, they're just playing "what time is it mr throne man".

not so evil really.

lol i agree with Leliel, see you guys, satan is a good guy...

but seriously IMO, there is no hell or heaven, when you die you die, you cease to exist.

I agree that most of the people in hell would rather be there than in heaven. I mean look at satan. He knows his situation exactly, and yet he's pursuing his rule over the underworld with a fury. And really, if people don't want God to be part of their lives for all of their existance, why would they want to be with Him till eternity? If they want to be in control and be their own ruler with none above (as Satan did), then they certainly wouldn't like the idea of God ruling them for eternity.
But I cannot say that the reason people will stay in hell is because they'd rather be there. I'm sure there are others who WILL want out.
It'd be nice to think that after realizing "whoa. maybe this hell thing is a real place." people would be able to then leave and make it up to heaven, but then... what about that rich master in the bible that went to hell, and saw a man he had neglected and abused up in heaven... He certainly didn't seem happy in hell, but the guys in heaven were not able to reach him, and he was not able to reach them..

Hell is a choice though. You chose it when you chose your life here on earth. Do you want a life with God, or a life without God; cuz God honors your decision. He doesn't want robots. He's not gonna force you to be with Him if you say you don't want Him.

we get new bodies when we die.. different than the ones we have now though.. similar to the one Jesus was in after he resurrected.
