In the Bible it mentions Death as the last evil yet to be extinguished. So im wondering why is that? I mean God has the Angel of Death does he not. Why is death so hated or referred to as "evil". Death doesnt seem evil, I mean it seems more neutral as it does not care who it takes. A young child or a 90 year old man. Why does God find death so evil. Im wondering do most christians believe Death to be evil. Do all christians find Death to be an evil being? Just wondering here.

Hey superchaos. Could you elaborate a little on this post. Specifically a Bible-reference would be appreciated. I can't recall where death is ever referred to as the "last evil". Not saying it's not there, I'd just like to know so I can have a look and get back to ya thumbsup.gif

edit: A search through a Bible program using the phrase - last evil - found only one hit:

2 Peter 3:3 - First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.

Imaginary Friend
1 Corinthians 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

By this, the Bible means that when Jesus comes back for the apocolypse death will be destroyed, that is, there will be no more death. It'll be the last of evil because after judgement day... yah...

That's my take on it.

Thanks I.F. I personally see a big difference between "evil" and "enemy". A common phrase - our greatest enemy is time - really encapsulates our existence. We all live, we all die. Our lives end when death catches up with us. In other words, death can very well be seen as an enemy. 1 Corinthians goes into great detail on just this subject. Through Jesus' resurrection, death itself has been defeated.

I hope that answers the orignal question - death is not seen as "evil".

I have to agree with you with death being neutral it will take any man woman or child no matter what age and even the animal life and plant life on the planet. It does not seem a evil entity but it is portrayed that way so i guess that is what adds to some people believing it to be evil. Also Death seems to become a enemy when it takes or tries to take someone close to you. Then you will try and do everything you can to fight it, so i guess that is when it becomes a enemy in peoples eyes.

Well I kind of thought that destroying Death has taking it as an evil. Thanks IF you saved me some time finding the exact phrase, grin2.gif. That's interesting Paranoid, I do see that enemy is often different then evil . Thanks all who have replied
