Intelligent design (ID) is the concept that "certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection." (
Source).
Doesn't mean that the guy was actually intelligent

, just that things were deliberately designed the way they are, as opposed to the random sequence of events (big bang, evolution etc.) explained by science.

Intelligent design is an offering by religious peoples to have creationism taught (or at least accepted) in the school system, as opposed to chance/ocurrence/evolution being the only alternative.

Intelligent Design is a very interesting theory - with some decent science behind it - that has been hijacked by the religious right to push it's creationism agenda. Therfore anytime somebody says "intelligent design" everybody automatically thinks of Christianity and God creating the world in 6 days 6000 years ago.
It's really too bad. Just try to do a web search on ID to get real information...all you get are religious sites.

They don't reject life existing in the cosmos. In the bible it never says, "And God created only one planet with life on it". So it's possible that He created more than just one planet with life. Thats of course if you believe God created the universe.

Two instances in the Bible that may be interpreted as lenient towards otherworldly figures are Daniel 10, and Revelation 12. I do not believe that I have heard this commented on by others, but rather this is how it MAY be viewed.
If you read different interpretations, and keep an open mind, an association could be made.
I don't think anyone could understand what God's intentions are for human wisdom, to know things that so many would not want known.

The 'Intelligent Design' concept is based on faith, not on science.
It relies on supposition, and blind belief, rather than any kind of verifiable proof.
It is Creationism by another name, and appeals to the semi-illiterate lunatic fringe of society.
What's worse, is that the ID advocates tap ALL unconventional theories of creation, and then scurry back to their enclaves of idiocy, without even TRYING to prove their point without measurable, verifiable facts.
