SpringhealedJack
Yesterday I was filming the lightning and caught my neighbours house getting struck, they had to have new tiles put on there roof today. Hope you think its as cool as I do, the people who live there are annoying so w00t.gif

No one got hurt thankfully. Here is a still of the moment it hit them. Its from a video, so I should not have called it a freak photo.

Now, I don't see lightning striking residential homes to often, but I'll hasten to say that is a poor fake...
SpringhealedJack
Really Walken? Would you like to see the original video? Maybe I faked the video too dontgetit.gif
SpringhealedJack
HERE is the footage I took the still from.
Walken
Would you like me to post a synopsis of that video, so other people don't have to bother wasting their time clicking the link?

Five seconds of a black screen. For some reason you can hear what sounds like foot steps. Suddenley that still image fades in and out quickly, and the screen returns to black (this time with a thunder clap to acompany the darkness).

Sorry, you'll have to do better than that to convince me...
SpringhealedJack
Walken if you don’t believe me I am not going to lose any sleep so don’t worry. I caught it on video, and I made a still of it, if you think it is fake there really isn’t anything I can do to help you. Its black in much of the video because its night time.

And may I ask you why you feel the need to be so confrontational on something as mundane as this?

And that is not "footsteps" its rain.
Walken
Whose being confrontational? Like I said, I don't see many homes being struck by jolts of lightning. I met you halfway. You got very defensive, and I hate to think you're insulting my - frankly - god like intelligence by slapping togethor ten seconds of black screen, with that image appearing for a second half way in, and expecting me to believe the shot any more.

Like I said; What do I know about this manner of phenomena? Perhaps a second opinion is in order?
SpringhealedJack
Walken I was not trying to convince anyone of anything. I was just surprised too see someone saying it was a fake unsure.gif blush.gif

I thought it looked cool myself..... thumbsup.gif

Now where in the hell did he get very defensive? dontgetit.gif

Anyway, looks real to me. And I've seen WAY too many people analyse pictures/videos, claiming it to be fake, and then end up being wrong.
isis-999
Some people just like to argue...... hmm.gif
Uversa
Walken, lets get this straight. You dont usually see lightning hitting residential homes therefore it must be a fake? Do you realise how moronic that is?

The picture doesnt look like it has been tampered with at all, and also lets remind you that its dark at night time, and lightning, believe it or not, lights up the dark for the split second it happens, explaining the video.

edit - cool picture SpringhealedJack!

Night = Dark, Lightning = Light.
It's nothing unusual for the whole video to be dark and than for a flash of lightning to illuminate the whole surrounding area. I took some videos myself with the exact same effect.

People don't get hit by lightning too often, but it happens. Keeping in mind that houses are a lot higher than people, and have a higher rate of conductivity. It's nothing unusual.

Cool video SpringHealed. thumbsup.gif

What a photo!Just to note that the CN tower in Torronto,Canada has up to 76 lighting stoms a year. Now that was was pointless so i going to rock gently back and forth in my garden. yes.gif
jesspy
that looked cool. nice pic too
coldethyl
Cool pic Jack! I can plainly see it isn't faked. thumbsup.gif
SpringhealedJack
Hi All thank you. I am glad you liked it. I guess some are just a little enthusiastic to prove photos as fake even when someone is not trying to suggest anything out of the ordinary.
jobot37
It is a cool vid, Jack, I dig it.

Here's what it looked like on youtube if anyone still doesn't believe it.

Down with the pitchforks, folks; You all seem to be quoting dear Walken out of context.

Refer to my earlier posts, which will be from here on referred to as Exhibit A.

I said - from the very start - that I thought it was fake, but also noted that I had never seen a house get struck by lightning; That was my compromise. For those of you who didn't get it, let me put it into your language.

"It looks fake to me but I've never seen anything like that so I'm probably not the best person to ask on the subject."

Understand better now? Hmmm? Good.
ShadowDancer
Walken, shut up already. As my mom used to say, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.... " .......but you'd never appreciate that wisdom, you just like to crap on everyone.

Its a cool picture, haven't you ever appreciated art? Photography is art.
That picture is good.

Sorry for the flaming, this dude just irritates me. His "god-like" intelligence???? LMFAO......... talk about wishful thinking.

A+Certified
i think its real. you can tell the pic is real by the lighting effects on the tiles and surrounding houses. which would VERY hard to fake
A+Certified
if you move the time bar on the video manually, you can clearly catch the bolt getting less intense.

i think it looks cool!!!!!!!!! w00t.gif

Walken
No need for that, Dancer. I didn't say anything negative about anyone. I said that - in my opinion - the picture (and video) looked fake; Nothing wrong with that, is there? I even said (from the very start) that I could be wrong because I didn't know that much on the subect.

No need to villify dear old Walken. He's done nothing wrong.
SpringhealedJack
Even though I know its not fake, I have tried to look at it from the perspective of someone having to rely on a stranger telling them it is real. And I cant see how this looks fake, it looks like a lightening bolt striking a house roof no matter how many ways I look at it. I was not expecting to be having to defend the authenticity of it to be honest, but I suppose its made it just that little more interesting. But hey isn’t all good art somewhat controversial ? I can see Walken buying this piece in an art auction for 1 million in a few years time. grin2.gif

It doesn't at all, I don't see why he would think it is, but there you go. tongue.gif
joc
Not to be confrontational...I agree with Walken..I think it was faked.

Why?

I have watched the video numerous times...pausing it several times at the height of electrical activity....not once did I ever see anything that even remotely resembled that photo...the sky never lit up like the picture...the house never lit up like the picture...and if this photo was a still from a sequence of video it most certainly would have.

My opinion. Nothing more...nothing less. ph34r.gif

Edit: Having just watched it and freeze framed the only lightning in the video...there is absolutely no lightning fork off to the right as is seen in the picture. Fake.
joc
I take back everything I just posted....I watched it several more times and in fact did freeze frame the exact picture!

Nice one! You should have it published!
SpringhealedJack
LOL cool. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you sceptics, investigation gets results thumbsup.gif

Cool picture. It's annoying when people are skeptical for the sake of it.

lol cool pic is all i can say original.gif
Dowdy
Very cool pic!

I dont know why Walken thinks its fake. There's no reason to fake it (nothing paranormal) and if you just do a bit a reasearch, like Joc, you'll find you were wrong
Walken
Guys, please.

I expressed an opinion. I commented that I may be wrong; I met you more than half way. So if you'd all care to stop acting like jerks. Well, that would be super.
