After the human race has been wiped out on Earth, what species would evolve and take control of the planet? An insect species, like the ant, has the intelligence of man and the cooperation between it members for it to survive in a colony. They are very adaptable to changing climates and environments, and with their tough exoskeleton, various castes in the colony (queen, nurse, worker, teacher, soldier), excellent communication skills, obedience to the queen, and a very organized society, I believe the next group of species that will rule Earth would be the Insectoids.

i would think that the elephant would be awesome to take our place. they never forget haha..and plus..they can also adapt to their environment. u never know...if they migrate to like..a really cold place...itll turn back to the hairy mammoth . plus their strength would be useful for obsticles that get in their way. they are also veggytariums . so they wont need to eat meat and all. i guess ill call them elephantoids for now LOL

If we nuked our selves one species would emerge out of the shadows. That is the cockroach which can survive massive ammounts of radiation and survive with their heads cut off. Cockroaches are probably the most versitile insect i can think of anywho

Depends on what you define as ruling. They'll most probably never be able to dominate as predators, or through technology (like humans have), their exoskeleton and respiratory system restricts them growing too large, meaning they wouldn't be much of a threat to anything physically, nor will their brain mass be able to expand. But they could probably dominate briefly through outcompeting everything else with huge numbers for things such as vegetation and space, then it would only be a matter of time before a predator evolved to feed on them.

There are around 900,000 different species of insects and they inhabited the Earth since before the time of the dinosaurs. They had their chanse to evolve into doctors and pilots. If we screw this up Im pretty sure they wont be next in line.
