i was at a friends house one night and saw a black cat. the next morning i told her that i saw her cat last night and she said that she didn't have a black cat.. although she does claim that she has at least 2 human entities and one white cat entity in her house that shes seen or experienced. it was the wierdest thing i've ever experienced because from what i saw it was a real solid cat.. with a bit of shaggy hair and yellow eyes standing under the hallway light.. real as it can be.. but when i try to get closer to it. it disappeared. and i only lost sight of it for a second....... this thing just up and vanished without a trace.. all of the doors were closed in the hallway.. as if the cat vanished into thin air.. pretty wierd..
if that was the ghost cat she always seen, it should have been white with short hair.. but this one i saw was black with long hair.. anyone's ever been in situation like mine?

All of the people in my family who can see and feel spirits, started out at a young age being able to see animal spirits first. Cat spirit-sighting is very common.
We Celts also know, as do Native Americans, that sometimes seeing a particular animal under unusual circumstances can be a messege to you of some kind. Look up what a cat can mean, and see if it is appropriate to anything in your life right now.

QUOTE
The Cat

Cats have more rods in the retinas of their eyes which enable them to see effectively in the dark. The dark is often associated with mankind's fears. Since the car is at home in the dark, it serves as a valuable ally into the world of the supernatural and the unknown and can help those with this totem move through their fears efficiently.

The energy field of a cat rotates is a counterclockwise direction, the opposite of a human energy field. Because of this, cats have the ability to absorb and neutralize energy that affects humans in a negative way. This is part of the healing medicine that the cat holds.

If something affects you in a negative way place a cat on your lap or find a cat to pet. Your energy field will immediately realign itself and inner balance will be restored.

Because of their x-ray vision, acute hearing and high intelligence they were used throughout history as guardians and protectors. In ancient Egypt cats guarded the temple gates and were used to ward off evil.

If cat appears in your life the blending of magic and mystery is at hand. A trustworthy teacher, the cat will guide you into the world of self discovery and transformation.

I learn something new everyday from you guys! I didn't know that "cat-energy" info.
That must be why when I am very down and in alot of pain, (I have 3 male cats, and their mother= 4 cats), they will come and sit on me, one at a time. One will get up and leave, and another will come take his place. Gizmo, even puts his arms around me like he's hugging me, and stays that way for a while. They are precious, and such a blessing.

Aww your cats must be aware and sense your pain. It's amazing how animals can do this and offer themselves to comfort you.

WELL MY FRIEND HAS AN INDOOR CAT AND SHE DOES NOT LET IT GO OUT. SO NO DOGGY DOORS AND ALL THAT.. SHE DOESN'T OPEN THE SCREEN DOOR OR WINDOW SO NOTHING COMES IN OR GETS OUT. NOW SHE HAS A CAT OF HER OWN, AND IT'S A GREY SHORT HAIR MALE CAT.. STOCKY BUILD WITH GREEN EYES, WHILE THE ONE I SAW IS JET BLACK AND SHAGGY HAIR. SLIGHT BUILD.. LOOKS TO ME LIKE A FEMALE CAT BECAUSE OF THE SMALL SKULL AND FRAME WITH YELLOW EYES. I KNOW THIS IS NOT HER CAT BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER DIRECT HALLWAY LIGHT..... SO, IT'S SAFE TO RULE OUT STRAY CATS GETTING IN THE HOUSE.

Yeah, I think the two of them go over these things when we're in bed. Mostly their "I'm starving to death" routine that they put on when they just got fed 15 minutes before. She has really pretty, big yellow eyes. It isn't as stark with my other cat, because he's orange. The contrast between the yellow eyes and the black fur is really cool.

I'm not sure of the statistics in other parts of the world, in the UK the domestic cat is responsible for the death of 49% of wild life, it's greater then natural causes, road kill, disease and hunting all put together, i'd never hurt a cat but i often feel like giving one a boot when i catch it in the garden torturing a bird.

Which is worse, a cat catching a bird (I hate birds, anyway), or a human torturing a cat, as that woman did in China, crushing the heads of kittens and puppies with high heels. Cats catching birds is part of the food chain. Us hurting animals is not.

I don't get your analogy? because a woman crushes the heads of puppies and kittens it makes it ok for cats to torture birds, lets keep it simple should we stop the domestic cat killing wildlife, i think we should try, the cat wouldn't be in the food chain if you'd not put it there, it's natural for man to hunt, nothing natural about the domestic cat,

So sure about that? Then dogs shouldn't attack humans then. As far as I know, hell, nothing should attack anything according to your analogy. Humans shoudn't hunt then as well. Its not natual for man to hunt. Only if he is STARVING to death. But I see vegans living pretty happily and healthy with out hunting or eating, or even wearing animals. Cats and other animals were born carnivorous, born hunters. A lot of people keep cats soley for thier ability to catch and eat mice and the like. And when has man ever "engineered" an animal? Lead me to this man made creature then please. Hunts for fun? Everything my cats kill they eat, and I dont have the slightest problem with that. And the cat would have been in the food chain no matter what. We didn't put anything anywhere. Its just nature. Cats are born hunters, they die hunters. And your analogy is pretty sick, a woman crushing small animals to death is normal but cats eating and killing birds isn't blink.gif . Wow, I sure found me an einstien. tongue.gif
Watchful
Now, my family has three cats, two females and a male. The male and one of the females are black and white tuxedo cats, and one time, this was before the male tuxedo was adobted into the family, I remember seeing a tuxedo walk into out little room we call the bar. I sighted this one late night, but when I got up to see, the little bar room was empty. I even checked in the cabinets above and under the counter in there, because I remember a cat we had before who could open cabinets up with her paws and get into them. This experience coupled with feeling something jump on the bed, when I'm in it, and then seeing nothing there makes me think that my currant house is haunted by a cat spirit. Oh, there was another thing, last Christmas, I remember trying to cross the front of my family's Christmas tree, when I felt something living and furry almost trip my feet. Looking down, there wasn't anything there. My husband and daughter confirmed that. I did feel something there! I know one thing, I tend to look at my photographs for those orbs, and when I moved into our currant house, of the many pictures we took of each room, the room where our Christmas tree was in, was the only one that had one orb in it, and close to the ground. Hmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Anyways, here's an interesting and maybe an amusing thought. Speaking of the luck of black cats, and white cats, if a black cat crosses your path means bad luck, does one get good luck when an all white cat crosses your path. I ask this in humor, because of the one time my friend and I were driving home and lo and behold we noticed this all white cat cross the road in front of us. We were joking about this and wonder, does one get good luck from this?

What a ridiculous statement! Cats hunt because it is a natural inborn instinct. That instinct was necessary for their survival before they were domesticated. The fact that human beings domesticated small cats does not remove or cancel out that natural instinct to hunt. It is as much a part of them as our need to blink is a part of us.

What of the "big" cats? We sure as heck haven't engineered the lions, tigers, jaguars, and such. But our little kitty-cats are still related to them. I always thought the kicker of cats is that we can't really get them to do anything. rofl.gif

Cat's are enormously difficult to train due to their intelligence (yes, intelligence). It's not that they don't understand what you want them to do, it's that they often think "Why should I come to you? I'm happy here by the fire, you've fed me so I don't need you for that right now and I've had a run round outside. Go annoy someone else."

It may also be true that the more intelligent an animal is the more likely it is that it is going to "play" with things. Humans don't just hunt for food, they hunt for sport. Orcas often play with seals before eating them and some have been known to catch them, play with them, and then let them go.

Domestic cats hunt for fun because, like humans, they generally don't have to hunt for food.

Anyhoo, with respect to the thread: I've been in a situation like yours before. I saw a black cat on my landing one day and, not paying much attention to it, figured it was my cat (same colour, same approximate dimensions). When I got downstairs I noticed my cat fast asleep on the sofa. I rushed upstairs but the cat on the landing had gone!

Two days later I saw the same cat being shooed out of my neighbour's house, rush across the road and into the house opposite where it appeared in the window being stroked by the girl that lived there.

Sorry. I'm being flippant and I hate that. You saw a cat in a house and it wasn't the house owner's cat. That suggests that a cat went into that house. The simplest explanation is often the right explanation.

*I'm not sure what your saying? some dogs have been engineered to attack humans.

As far as I know, hell, nothing should attack anything according to your analogy.

* why? i've not said that.

Humans shoudn't hunt then as well. Its not natual for man to hunt. Only if he is STARVING to death. But I see vegans living pretty happily and healthy with out hunting or eating, or even wearing animals. Cats and other animals were born carnivorous, born hunters. A lot of people keep cats soley for thier ability to catch and eat mice and the like

*I can't see any relevance in the above statement

. And when has man ever "engineered" an animal?

* I can't think of a domestic animal thats not been engineered in some way.

Lead me to this man made creature then please. Hunts for fun? Everything my cats kill they eat,

*I'd say your cats are quite rare, or you only supplement there diet and they rely on what they catch, most owners who's cats hunt have little presents of birds and mice left on the door step

and I dont have the slightest problem with that. And the cat would have been in the food chain no matter what.

*No it wouldn't, you put it there

We didn't put anything anywhere. Its just nature.

*No it's not

Cats are born hunters, they die hunters. And your analogy is pretty sick, a woman crushing small animals to death is normal but cats eating and killing birds isn't

*I said nothing of the sort, there's lot's of cruelty going on all the while, but that's not what we're talking about is it we're discusing the cat.

*The general consensus is the domestic cat was selectively bred from the african wild cat, this would have taken many years to produce cats that could be handled,

*european wild cat ( they look like domestic cats) kittens even if hand reared can't be handled, even third and fourth generation kittens can't be

*wild cats only hunt when hungry, again it would have taken many years of selective breeding.

The links i posted are from America.

Cats on islands and habitat islands: Some island bird populations evolved in the absence of mammalian predators, and have no defenses against them. The introduction of domestic cats to an island can result in the elimination of entire bird populations. Cats are responsible for the extinction of at least eight island bird species in New Zealand alone. Cats can also have significant impacts on local wildlife populations, especially in habitat "islands" such as suburban and urban parks, wildlife refuges, and other habitats that are surrounded by human development.

So while you want cats to stop killing, what about humans? Humans have wiped out far more than cats ever will. Should I go around everywhere to say "Stop your cat from killing, its wrong! Buy your hunters and safari licences here!"
