Oh..you didn't know anything yet, my friend...you haven't seen the **ppl**!

Hey, what about some atmospheric amoeba? I understand that our sky is filled by all kinds of microbacterial organism right?

I've never heard of any microbes inhabiting the skies. Perhaps some stray microbes could be raised to the sky then caught in rain clouds, but none are intentionally there. Kind of impossible for a microbe to fight against the power of gravity.

Yea...I kinda agree with you..
Sigma
Do they have tentacles like a jellyfish or are they more like an ameboa (is this the right spelling?)
Anyway, in the late 1800's there were hundreds of sightings of a giant rod in Crawdsfordville. Maybe it was another aerial monster?

Kinda huh.gif He has a pretty strong ally there in gravity grin2.gif Maybe this is how the Rods Idea started out. No doubt fish falling from the sky has helped this legend.

As for flying jellies, all of you deserve a smack!
Tell me how they would float? And eating birds? No, if they did live up there, they would be photoautotrophs...I don't see any green jellies around.

What advantage does the colour of the chloroplast offer? The only thing I can think of that would make a difference is the albedo, but than black chloroplasts would be favoured. hmm.gif

Chlorophylls a and b, carotenes and xanthophylls absorb all of the visible light spectrum except green, as it doesn't produce sufficient energy. That's why they would be green.

Wanna try that again? and I don't believe he's attempting to be annoying, it's just the way you choose to view it, he was just stating the scientific reason why...if these creatures existed....they would be green and not translucent. As for the whole "Mermaid" thing....hasn't that been done to death already?

This thread is causing me pain.

If there were some weird air type anomaly that was jellyfish like, I seriously doubt it would be anything like a true jellyfish and more like some type of weather phenomenon.
Samael
H. G. Wells wrote a story about this sort of thing, but I can't remember what it's called. It's believed that Jovians (aliens on Jupiter) would be built something like a big flying jellyfish, and feed on radioactive energy.
If there are creatures in the stupidly insane depths of the oceans, why shouldn't there be creatures in the stupidly insane heights of the atmosphere. They could photsynthesise and breathe whatever sorts of gas there are up there.

Welcome back Frogfish! Yo to thecreeper!

So...my friend Frogfish, you were saying that this kind of atmospheric jellyfish never existed? Well, I actually agreed on the opinion that this atmospheric jellyfish might not be a true animal or a being, but merely an unknown natural phenomenon that took forms like a jellyfish. Could it be so?
SunDogDayze
For some reason, after reading this post, I was reminded of Roswell Rods. Maybe they are related... wink2.gif

Just to remind you again, rods have been debunked as photographic trick (or failure, I must say?)
