What do you achieve through “practice of psi”?

For sometime now, I have been pondering this very question; what do you achieve through “practicing” the “arts”?

I would like to hear some of your thoughts on this matter, whether its faith based, and reason based, philosophically based.

Oh and last but not least, I would like to try and find a universal reason for why you all practice the arts and what it is that you all truly achieve through learning the practice.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mahotsukai

P.S.

What's your reason for being interested and or believing in "psi"?

geek.gif 1.) Was it science, which got you interested & or believing in “psi”?

ph34r.gif 2.) Was it Martial Arts, which got you interested & or believing in “psi”?

cool.gif 3.) Was it movies, which got you interested & or believing in “psi” (like, The Matrix)?

wacko.gif 6.) Was it your unique perspective of the world, which got you interested & or believing in “psi”?

alien.gif 8.) Was it a belief in some ancient people whom lived and possessed these abilities long, then wrote all of their knowledge of these abilities down and then gave the info to your ancestors, which got you interested & or believing in “psi”?

Thanks again

I got interested when I was a naive kid, but now I'm enjoying cultivating a skill that few have.

I think that what best sums it up is that I've read our purpose in life here on Earth is for testing ourselves. That we spend the eternities of our souls learning and experiencing and we come here for testing ourselves. I think we achieve a greater understanding of that testing and of ourselves thru the practice and mastery of psi.

For me, I've always been interested in the unknown since a very young age. I didn't quite know how to put my finger on it, so to say, but I was very aware that there is much more to life than we can "see" with our human senses, which are limited to the laws of nature on this planet. Our minds are stronger and can surpass our physical limitations, it's just a matter of learning how to unlock those secrets and apply them to our physical selves.

That's what I think... happy.gif

What do I achieve? At the start, I achieved little more than having something amusing to do with my spare time. I was bored and had nothing better to do, so I started fishing stuff out of the old school library and trying them out. Eventually, I actually got somewhere and achieved the ability to do some healing, interesting methods of gaining information, and some other strange things I doubt most people would believe.

I got interested in it because of multiple influences. I think the first was fairly strange. It was a religious book I read about Jesus calming a storm. I read the book, and instead of thinking about what a holy man Jesus must have been, my first thought was, "I want to do that!" (You know, calm storm, heal the sick raise the dead, yadda yadda). Now this wasn't like some grand revelation or anything. It was just one of a hundred things that made me say "wow, that's cool" when I was a kid. (the others including walt disney cartoons, the ninja turtles, home computers, Les Miserables, and cats)

Well, later on I met this really good healer, read that "Psychic discoveries behind the iron curtain" book (or something like that), saw psychics on TV shows and documentaries, heard about a bunch of experiments people have done over the years involving psychic phenomenon, and then found some interesting books in the school library.

Well, I had some spare time, so i tried them. The first book I read mentioned something about empathy being some sort of power (I don't really agree with that) and I thought, "if this is all there is to powers than I should be able to get something out of this" And I did.

Since then, I've been studying this stuff on and off, testing myself, & analyzing accounts of it. I've also met a good share of healers, psychics, martial artists with seemingly impossible capabilities, etc.

Some thoughts: This psychic stuff is great and all but some people take it way too far, usually without even knowing what they are doing. It's almost as if their whole world depends on having/gaining psychic powers. Certainly one is free to devote one's life to something they believe in, be it science, religion, martial arts, or the mystical/psychic, but such a path isn't for everyone and it is hardly necessary.

In a nutshell, I've met enough people, seen enough phenomenon, and done enough things to be fairly certain that these things are real.

I believe most people here apply to all of the above. Let me explain.

All you have to be is a science major (1) that does kung fu (2), have seen x-men 1000 times (3), be fanatical katholic that makes everything into a miracle (4), want to change gender because of your favourite hero (5), plus you think you are better and more special than everyone else (6) and firmly believe your powers come from your witch grandmother (7).

All of the above is my post.
Normally, I'd assume you mean "apply to all of the following" but even that doesn't make much sense.

Edit: oh, now I get it.... Jeez, I was seriously trying to make sense of your post grin2.gif

I can't remember how or why I got intrested but i think that I have a few "strange" experiences wich is easiest to explain trough "paranormal things"

If you are willing to come over to my place on a sunday that I'm free, I'll be glad to show you a few things. PM me.

I'm interested in psi mostly for
  1. Prove me that there are such things
  2. To use in healing
