THIS video was just brought to my attention and I wanted to see what you guys thought about it. For a few seconds it's believable but now I'm having doubts.

-why would the Yowie be peeking around the tree, watching them?
-why would he Yowie stay in plain view as the cameraman got close, running just in time?
-the video seems to short. I'd like to see the whole thing, because it's too much of a coincidence to be taping for a few seconds, then, BAM, there's a Yowie
-the cameraman didn't seem too shocked. I mean, he just saw, in the dark, UP CLOSE, a supposed tall and furry ape-man, and all he can say, in a casual voice, is "what was that? Did you see that?"
-Ape costume with extra fur added, anyone? When the light shines on the head for a split second I think I see the shine of a plastic, manufactured mask...?
-finally, what were they doing in the middle of the woods with a conveniantly ON video camera, and why was the light so small?

Take all of these into account and I'm dead sure this is fake.
jobot37
I think it's fake, not terribly done though, if I were to make a yowie vid I'd probably do something similar, kind of "weird almost scary movie" style...

Was seen in Oz, over here they are called Yowies. Katoomba would be nearer Tia Country original.gif

Unless he plays guitar, then it could be Yngwie the Yowie.
samanthauk23
At what second should I look out for it? I couldn't see a flippin thing ....
L33TNerd
From 15 seconds in to 20 seconds in you can see it. At first it will be clung to the right side of a tree.

Thanks for that. I still can't make out that much tho no.gif getting most annoyed with myself lol
Spring Heeled Jack
What was it? Not a yowie, but it could easily be just a large furry animal. That would explain the casual attitude.

Is it real? Well, it's either a more unknown animal, that I could believe. But if it's a supposed yowie, no, it is not.

What were they doing out in the woods? In Australia, many ressidential houses have lots of bushes and trees out in the back. They also could have just owned land. If you listen carefully to the footage, you hear someone say "let's get inside," witch leads me to believe they were just in their back yard.

The plot thickens...

Yowie is a much better name than Bigfoot. I like it. I'm naming my next kid that.

[attachmentid=27366]These shots were taken in either the US, or Canada. They look very much like what the folks in Australia caught on tape. I forgot to mention-the creature was photographed on hidden camera. I think it was Canada. Look closely at the hand.

I think it is worth noting the distance and time of day between when these clips were taken and the one videotaped in Australia.

I can't recall where I found these clips; but after seeing the video clip of the Yowie-there is no mistaken that the creature is of the same species but on different continents.

Obviously a bear. Actually, more like a guy wearing a bear skin. Spring Heeled Jack tryed something like that once; It didn't work all that well.

A lot of the houses here in the Blue Mountains do back straight onto National Park, so it is possible to have a sighting from your back door.

Unfortuently I'd say fake, yowies will stay close to you if they're interested but at the same time well hidden. The whole video sounded a bit like a script. If they lived in the mountains they'd know what animals were around here, a 6ft tall dog? lol

Why does the name B Green ring a bell?

Ya, it does, but i searched for yowie pictures for comparison, and these are the only two that looked remotely biologically possible.

The whole Yowie concept is incredibly silly...

the term Yowie is an aboriginal word, and is a monster from Aboriginal Mythology...

The story of the Yowie in dreamtime stories is incredibly different to what we know of it today. TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

To indigenous Australia, a yowie is a mythological creature said to be a cross between a Lizard and an ant:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yowie_%28cryptid%29

There is nothing roaming the Australian bush....there were no Yowie sightings in Australia until the Bigfoot craze in the United States....

how people even started using the term Yowie in the first place is beyond me.

no.gif you've all been had by hype i'm afraid.
Tia
Syntax, Aboriginies first warned the white man about yowies. I have never heard of a yowie described as a lizard type creature. hmm.gif There's many reports from the 1800's even of yowies being seen by people.

I've personally experienced a couple of yowie encounters, these creatures are intelligent. Hopefully Indeed is still around on here and can share some info.

Here's a somewhat clearer version of the video, at about 8 seconds in you'll see the thing standing there and it continues from there. I believe this video is a fake but that yowies are real.

That would be because the original term was infact Yahoo for what we now call a Yowie. Over the years Yahoo became Yowie thumbsup.gif

haha is your gonna contradict me....get your facts straight...

Yahoo is a term from Gullivers Travels...a great piece of Western Fiction.

Written a considerably long time AFTER Aboriginal mythology and folklore.

The term yahoo was popular in Britain at the time as a slang word for Urang-Otan's....probably due to the popularity of the book.

The mixup comes when someone took the word yahoo, and changed it to suit a word that already existed in the indigenous vocabluray....probably trying to cross reference a sighting with aboriginal mytholgy. Obviously those people DIDN'T do enough research, otherwise they would know that a YOWIE is a completely different creature.

indeed
w00t.gif which you took from the first website from google http://cryptozoo.monstrous.com/the_yowie.htm

Where you not asking how we got to calling them yowies today ? hmm.gif

You left this part out though hmm.gif

QUOTE
Hearing the aborigines' fearful accounts of this malevolent beast, nineteenth-century European settlers probably applied the name Yahoo to the Australian creature themselves. Sometime in the 1970s, the term "Yowie" supplanted “Yahoo," for reasons that remain as mysterious as the creature. One possible origin of the newer name is the aborigine word youree, described as a legitimate native term for the hairy man-monster. The Australian accent could easily contort "youree" into "Yowie."

If you want to get into the aboriginal names you will find each tribe has differnat names for them thumbsup.gif
