Spring Heeled Jack
I know about all the major cryptids: Mothman, Jersey Devil, Spring heeled Jack, Chupathingy, Dover Demon, Loveland frog, Lizard man and so on. Anybody know of any more unknown cryptids? preferably something with a story. I will accept any info or links you have.

Thanks in advance, SHJ. original.gif

I forgot its name, but supposedly there is also an underwater predator that has yet to be discovered. Something about a "maw that could be like the bowls of hell" or something to that extent. I'll do more research.

growing up in Australia, it's a requirement to learn about the culture of the indigenious population of the Australian Aboriginal Nation...

the most amazing thing to notice when you look back over it, is the striking similarity between creatures in their creation stories, and the Cryptids we know and see today.

Aboriginal story culture (a totally verbal culture) places the beginning of time during a period known as 'Dreamtime' when man and spirit co-existed on the earth at the same time. The thing to note is, the stories of creationalism from the dreamtime are stories that are 30,000 years old. Indigenous Australian culture is the oldest living culture on earth.

Anyways....check out the Wiki entry about Aboriginal mythology. There are some alarming demons and spirits that are very cryptid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Aboriginal_mythology

For instance, the Wati-kutjara, a race of Lizard Men who came from the mountains and gave the people Talisman's so they could communicate with the spirits. There is also the tales of the MIMI, benign spirits who would make themselves visable to protect humans from unknown black skinned devils with glowing red eyes.

Wow, I've never heard of him before. Very interesting. It's probably not a cryptid, but still a great reed. A true wacko. grin2.gif

Well Bunyip is something of a land-animal myth, but it bares striking resemblence to many other river-sprites (which are more often then not easier to call demons) like Nixen.

"Neck Neck Needle Thief, you are in the water, but I'm on land. Neck Neck Needle Thief, I am in the water, but you're on land."

Oh wow, I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to cryptids and things like this, but I would like to believe. Some more info on that Bunyip skull would deffinitely be appreciated. But hey cool articles.
