In South Africa - now here's something that should make everyone get his balls in a knot:

Killed baby's skin 'too light'
01/08/2006 07:25 - (SA)

Welkom - A woman who was scared her husband would find out about her extra-marital affair if he saw how light-skinned her baby was, pushed the newborn child's head into the toilet and kept on flushing until he drowned.

Puleng Lephuting, 26, of Orange Grove, Thabong, was sentenced to a 2 000 hours in prison, to be served during weekends following a plea bargain agreement with the State.

She said she put the child's body in a plastic bag, took it to a rubbish heap outside and went to bed. Her father-in-law found the body the next morning and contacted the police.

She and her husband both have a child from previous marriages and they have a three-year-old daughter together. They were involved in an argument the evening of July 13 2005 after he came home drunk.

She was already nine months pregnant at the time and he accused her that she would give the new baby more attention than his own child.

After her husband fell asleep, she went into labour. When she saw how pale her child's skin was, she realised he was the child of the man with whom she had conducted an extra-marital affair.

The prosecutor, Charmaine Labuschagne, said: "The innocent child had to die to cover up his mother's infidelity."

Her emotional condition, the fact that she is a first offender and the breadwinner of an extended family were all extenuating circumstances taken into account before sentencing was passed.

Celumnaz
this isn't an excuse for her at all but I'm curious if she's the breadwinner, what does the husband do other than gripe?
Saint
Presumably lie about drinking - but what has he to do with this?
Pappzy
2000 hours-is that all? Here in briton you would get at least 6 years min!
Jok3r
That's just really sad. I mean how can you kill a new born like that. And 2000 hours....I would really expect much more time than that. She sounds like somewhat of a sicko.
Saint
Whether she's a sicko or not isn't really the issue is it? The light, ridiculous sentence she received is the reason I posted the article up here.

It's an abomination!!!!
starlitkate
sad.gif I can't believe that is the sentencing they gave her. And if she was gonna do it then why in such a horrid manner?? Maybe someone should stick her head down a huge toilet and flush and flush till she drowns or at least on the brink of it. Maybe she shouldn't have been having an affair or she should have contacted the baby's father and left with the baby. Obvisouly she loved her husband too much to leave him but didn't love him enough to stay faithful. What a B***h!!
ShadowDancer
Well.... that made me wanna throw up my lunch.
punish3ment
hopefully, she'll hang herself in prison or something, how the hell can you kill someone for your own mistakes? She should have known the consequences of cheating, and instead she let a newborn die. I hope she Burns for this
truethat
I thought that dark skinned children were usually born much lighter than their eventual skin color? So her killing the newborn was kinda dumb.

Also why didn't she just a suffocate it and say it wasn't breathing when it was born and call the police?

If you are going to committ a crime try to be a little smart about it. Sheeesh.
Conspiracy
the stupidity of some people just keep comin ;/

I really do not see a problem with this.
S**t happens. Deal with it.
It's not like the newborn was a valued member of society.
For all we know it could have been a serial killer when it got older or....not.
It could have been a great scientist 20 years from now.
But we will never know, so.....who cares.

Wouldn't that really depend on how the child was raised?
IcarusSolo
I don't care. Neither should anyone else.
People die every day.
Why should we care about an article on a
newborn that was nothing and will never be anything.

I find it ignorant and stupid that people care about the death of 1 specific child.
starlitkate
Well maybe someone should have drowned you when you was a baby. Would you have liked that if your mother did this to you or if someone did this to you. What if someone kidnapped and hid you away and tortured you for the rest of your life and you cried wondering why noone bothered to check your neighbors house or something??? Are you saying the cops shouldn't be looking for you?? If someone is sticking a hot pocker up ya then I think you'd be taking back what you said. The point of the story is not that it was a baby and just one baby-what is saddening about this is that fact that it still happened and that this world is sick, twisted and evil. Are you saying murdering the baby was right?? Murder is murder and is wrong. A innocent baby that cannot defend itself. crying.gif What you said brought tears to my eyes that there are sick people like you in this world. I hope to God that you don't have children. You have a blackened cold heart and I actually feel sorry for you cuz you may one day live to regret your views on a helpless innocent baby being killed. My bf's mouth dropped and he gasped at what you say cuz we have a child and we have hearts. Maybe you belong with your head drowning. You are sick!!!

When I read the title of this article before clicking on the link I said to myself, "surely death?" This is very disappointing. It makes me sick that she took a life away to hide her own sins. Only God can take something away, especially something as dear as life, newborn or not. It makes it even worse that all she got was 2000 hours.. I think there should be new laws created so that every murderer suffers the same fate as his victim, thus, they drown this woman exactly the way she drowned her newborn. original.gif

Because it was murdered, its not like the baby died of Natural causes, its mother killed it

So you profess to be able to predict the future and what this child MIGHT HAVE been?

The premature death of any individual (sadly including you) is too much.....and it would be "ignorant and stupid" not to care.

It could have been great but we will never know now will we.
So why care.
It's done. It's over. No life. Move On.

People get murdered everyday.
Why care about 1 specific child that won't be anything anymore.

i find not the woman to be the killer but her husband.if her husband wasent getting drunk all the time instead of being with his wife then she wouldent have to cheat on him.i think she murdderd the baby for self defence.if her husband new that, that wasent his baby then when he was drunk he could probably beat her almost to death too.plus he couldve harmed the baby himself since it wasent his baby.also there already existing daughter shouldent have been exposed to that.

He may be a drunkard and a lout, but she's the one who chose to cheat, and murder, he didn't force her to do either

We don't unfortunately, Atlantis Rises..... and the judicial system as it stands is a bloody joke, as you can see by the sentence imposed here, for cold blooded murder. no.gif
todd_verhoef
wat is that a weak attempt at revnge. thats murder even if it was still a baby, she threw a life away and does she show any remorse, if not she has problems and needs mental help bad
ASOP
I'm with XYFER and CONSPIRACY that's a LIFE that she took no matter what!!!! She will get her just in her after life this little baby did not ask to be in this world if she was screwing around on her husband that child would not have been born and it is her problem that she married a drunk if your not happy with him then leave. Some people have no heart for human life it is sickening to read some of these posts. angry.gif

I'm not going to flame you - it's your opinion and I accept that. However, the point is that it's a tragic story, and should never have occurred. The article was informing people of how horrible some things are, and how we should strive to stop them ever happening again.

One infant murder or a million - they're all completely unacceptable, in the views of society.

I don't normally respond when someone or some group speaks like this but this is distrubing! Just think of how many children are killed or kidnapped! This is very sad to think you actually think this! But this isn't a debate and it shouldn't be. This is about a newborn who didn't have the chance to live his life, and was called back Home so suddenly.
To think that his own mother would do something so horrible and unloving! 2000 hours? What a joke! She should have gotten 25 years! That's is more than enough.

And so someone who doesn't think a newborn's live means anything- that makes me angry and sad. To think someone would say something like this about a life of a child is unforgiveable.
RollingThunder06
What a terrible message this punishment sends out. A precious life taken by the hands of another is only worth a certain number of hours in jail on weekends. Before long the number of hours will be reduced and the killer will be able to pick what weekends they want to serve them. crying.gif

My God-babies are half and half and they were both born very white. Now they are 3 mos and 15 mos and the older one is as dark as his daddy now and the infant gets darker every week.

What a dumb dumb woman. I hope she dies.
