Excellent link, Nova! thumbsup.gif A friend of my father's stumbled upon this realization involuntarily a few years ago. He was in his late 50s and was told by his optometrist that his vision was improving. Both men were baffled at first, but the conclusion was reached that his eyesight was affected through his remote control plane hobby. By constantly shifting his focus between the control box and the plane in the sky, it had a dramatic impact on his astigmatism.

Cool I'll have to try it out!

Recently I had a change in my vision. And strange enough it was actually for the better this time around. I realized that what I was doing was placing a warm eye compress over my eyes (the kind with little beads inside the eye mask) and falling asleep with it like that. After a month of doing that my eyesight changed all of a sudden and I can't think of anything else that it could have been...

Go figure! Not sure if it really helped, but was interesting enough to mention in this subject..

Something I've wondered about for a while is the reverse of this. Can eye sight be affected if you spend to much time looking at things close up ie - a puter screen, lol

Hi, Anvil,

Below is some data from MIT's Environment, Health and Safety Office [FrankBlunt wipes sweat from brow upon reading that scientific data does not indicate permanent vision loss].

One measure I took years ago, since my apartment is somewhat dimly lit, was to reduce the monitor's brightness and contrast to 25%. If that's not feasible for you, I'd go with no more than 50% illumination and wear sunglasses, or what are known as solar shields (worn over prescription frames).

Ah interesting thanks Frank! - I'm amused that there is an advert at the bottom of this page right now for eye care with a little eye test card laugh.gif

You're welcome, Anvil. It must be Google's targeted marketing techniques, because I'd just responded to a thread for musicians, and here I am on "Glasses are not needed!" with ads displayed for used musical instruments. Based on those findings my feelings are hurt, because the "Are you normal?" banner appears far too often. alien.gif
