I haven't payed attention to the NCAA but I've seen some of the games.. Too many " Analysit" are on the Lakers side to win the championship!!! I'm shocked because in dec they were barely above 500 but now since they;ve began to win eveyrone thinks that can win the championship!!
I agree with Stephen A Smith on many subjects but I don't agree with him saying that the Lakers will win the NBA Championship!
Sorry Stephen A!!

The playoffs are going to be amazing this year.
My first round predictions before I head on out...
West:
(1) LA over (8) Denver in 6 - In my opinion, Denver has more than enough offensive power to be able to keep up with the Lakers and make it at least competitive. That being said though, Kobe hasn't come this far to fall in the first round.
(4) Utah over (5) Houston in 5- McGrady just won't have enough support, with Yao out.
(2) NO over (7) Dallas in 7 - I'm of the opinion that NO is for real. I'm sure Dallas is going to protect home court, but I believe when it comes down to the 7th and final game it's going to come down to who can lead their team and I believe at this stage Paul is a better PG than Kidd. I also believe NO is hungrier than a Dallas team that has had the problem winning the big game...though they DID go to SA in the 06 playoffs and win game 7 there, so I can't count them out entirely.
(6) PHX over (3) SA in 7 - PHX won the season series 3-1, but this could go either way I think...it's playoff time and SA will be focused. PHX acquired Shaq to not only win a title, but to match up against Duncan in a series en route to the Finals...
East:
(1) BOS over (8) ATL in 4- No brainer...nice year for the Hawks though.
(4) CLE over (5) WSH in 7 - This one is interesting. A lot of people have Washington actually winning this series, but I'm not one of those people though. And it doesn't even matter what Washington players are saying, LeBron is going to win games for Cleveland single handedly (Washington happen to know from experience). Tough, hard fought, entertaining series...I think The King and his men prevail.
(2) DET over (7) PHI in 5 - Another no brainer here...
(3) ORL over (6) TOR in 5 - Good matchup between two of the best young bigs in the league, Bosh and Howard...I like Orlando's supporting cast, namely Turkoglu and Lewis, to step up for the Magic, even though Toronto has the advantage at the matchup between the two backcourt.

I agree with Cleveland over Washington I think it's time for LeBron to really come in to his own (not that he hasn't been good but his potential is huge)
Man last year after my Bulls swept Miami in the first round and played the Pistons decently, I wasn't prepared for a nightmare season like this one ... I'm glad it's over with

Yeah, I can only hope that my prediction of Cleveland over Washington comes true.
As a Pistons fan, I feel Cleveland would play Boston tougher than Washington would, and we need all the help we can get for the ECF, if we get there (I think we will).

I honestly can't see anyone knocking off Boston this year, I'd like to see them beat LA (Wow, I think I made this same comment two decades ago)

Yeah, while I am a Pistons fan, I'm skeptical of them (especially after the last two exits in the East Finals). Boston is and deserves to be recognized as the best team in the league, which is why I'm rooting for Cleveland to beat Washington.
I'd be so happy to see the Pistons win another title and prove the critics who have labeled them as a one title flukie wrong, but KG is my favorite basketball player of all time and I would be happy to see him win a championship.

Pffft critics are failed writers or failed athletes, listen to me the Detroit Pistons have been a dominating force for the past five years and their last win was no fluke, do you know why you can believe me? .. because I'm a Chicago fan why the hell would I lie and say anything nice about Detroit!!!

Ha, I was so mad last season when we went up 3-0 on you guys. We were completely dominated in games 4 and 5 and it really made me feel like Chicago was going to pull off the improbable.
They've owned us in the regular season too, lol.

Apr 17 2008, 09:01 PM
Pistons all the way. Of course, the Celts have the best record in the league, but they rely on their Big 3. The Pistons have the playoff experience and the AMAZING bench...the two reasons we will WIN the title.

Well, at least I can say they'll actually lose to the better team this year if Boston beats them in the ECF.

Apr 21 2008, 03:57 AM
See, this is exactly why I'm skeptical about the Pistons. The tendency to play down to their opponents, in the regular season AND in the playoffs. No doubt that Philly deserved to win, but we gave them the win by missing shots, free throws, and giving up offensive rebounds.
Something like this was needed to spark the team though, so we'll see what happens in game 2 and beyond...

They better pick it up or some coaching changes. I don't like when the coaches get fired because of their team play. But I'm glad Mr. Thomas is gone form the knicks.

Good to see that we were able to tie the series up at 2 games, but if it takes being down 10 at half and having to come back from a double digit deficit to win, the Pistons are going to be in trouble.

I'd say the first round has been disappointing, save for the Celtics-Hawks series (which has been shocking to say the least). The second round should be terrific though, with four great matchups in Utah-LA, SA-NO, DET-ORL, and also BOS-CLE if Boston beats Atlanta in game 7, which I think they will (in a blowout).

This is the Chauncey Billups we needed to see in the postseason the last two seasons. I wasn't a fan of that one posession where they got no ball movement whatsoever and gave it to Prince to jack up with 3 seconds left though. I'm tired of seeing that junk from the team. The good thing is Orlando had even worse posessions.
And I agree with frog that SA's run ends against NO. Series isn't over yet, but the Spurs have looked really bad (especially in the 2nd half). All credit goes to NO, who are indeed for real.
