Astrocreep
Progressive rock is my favorite form of all rock and I would be interested to see the opinion of the masses on who rules the progressive domain. In my opinion it would be Yes, being one of the first bands and influencing other band, also the album Fragile, such a great album

good headphone music

No Dream Theater?

Didn't vote... not sure I understand the term "progressive rock band" correctly... would Peter Gabriel fit? Or The Beetles? Or neither?

Peter Gabriel was a part of Genesis for a long time so yes he and I guess the Beatles could be considered in some sense

here is wikipedias definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_rock

I voted for Pink Floyd, although it was mainly for the '70-'72 stuff.

Alan Parsons needs to be on that list, as does ELO. Or at least they diserve honorable mentions. geek.gif

sad.gif My God!, I am losing it, first Dream Theatre, now I have forgotten ELO and Alan Parsons, very honoroble indeed they are. crying.gif I....am ashamed

Abecrombie

coldethyl
I voted Rush. I think they are very under-rated.
Bella-Angelique
Voted other.
I own eveything by Queen and Led Zeppelin.
Astrocreep
Queen...forgot that too... no.gif crying.gif , but I don't know if I would consider Led Zepplin as prog rock

I am not familiar with Saga and April Wine, I shall look into them

Rush is an awsome Canadian rock band.

But, i still have to say...

PINK Muthafu**in' FLOYD

I say that in the nicest of ways of course.

Nadal
Frank Zappa, ftw.
Sgt.Pepper
I'd say my favourite prog rock band would be Rush. Followed by Pink Floyd and then Yes.

I'm not a huge prog fan, mainly because 13 minute songs aren't really my preference. Still, some good stuff.

No Dream Theater?

I'm gutted. They would have been my vote.
Purplos
I never really considered Pink Floyd to be progressive rock, but....

I voted Rush. Yes has better lyrics overall, I think, (more 'artistic') but I get annoyed by the high-pitched tone of seemingly all their music after a while. Neil Peart is a god.

Spinal Tap - remember those lil druids from stonhenge
lets turn it up to eleven.
