A while back there was a thread regarding paranormal investigation shows such as Ghost Hunters and Most Haunted. Someone posed a question or thought as to why these shows only do an investigation for one night and why does it always have to be at night. Someone mentioned developing a reality television show where there is a group of people that consists of those who believe there is a spiritual/paranormal aspect to our world and those who are skeptics. These people would live in a house/castle that has a reputation to be haunted and investigate for any paranormal activity over a period of time during the day and evening. There would be challenges and possibly some kind of eviction (kind of like Big Brother) each week.

My question is would such an idea actually work and how would a show like this get started? Survivor had to be pitched to someone somewhere to be made. Also, would there be enough interest for people to try to audition to get on the show?

What do you think? I know I would like to participate. yes.gif

Woud like to say interesting idea and i would also like to participate . I guess these reaility show for this will be a great idea but then again thiers alot of skeptics out there and who says that that percific place will show any activity through the show (maby the ghosts dont like being watched ) disgust.gif Also alot of money would have to be put into it like cameras running all the time and ofcoarse food grin2.gif and other miner things that come into play.

Also with all these hoaxes going on video clips the tv and such . They can always put a projecter outside a window and make it look like a womens standing outside angry.gif which will make alot of people secound guess the show. Well then again thats my logic brain talking.... and yes i believe in ghost mellow.gif

I think these one night research is more like a series each week or such. Money and time goes into this and the probaly select a whole lot of houses/castle or so on out of people requesting them to come over and have a look . So they probaly also work on the time factor which will limit them alot on how much time they spend on one area or place.

But to sum it all up a give a good thumbs up to a reality show like that for i think it will be very interesting thumbsup.gif

anyways thats my two cents would like to hear what the rest think on this subject

That's a really good idea. I would watch it.

So, anyone know how someone pitches an idea for a TV show? I mean Matt Damon and Ben Affleck had to pitch their idea for their movie "Good Will Hunting."

I remember that thread, It was me that said the whole approach to these ghost hunting shows are not being done in the best way. It could be done so much better as a reality type 24/7 live streaming show like big brother. People want to see the real deal not just screaming wannabe investigators for the camera effect. I believe people are starting to evolve past that sort of entertainment now and want to see something more serious and commited to the investigations.

The other point of it was spending some quality time in a place ie more than just 24hrs. It takes time to get the vibe of a place and what's in it, even the spirits need time to suss things out.

It would be something I'd love to do.

Hey, Anvil, I remember. It was you. Well, I've been looking at how to pitch an idea like this, however, it's not easy to do. Networks will not take ideas. They don't want to take the chance at being accused of stealing someone's idea.

Oh well, I think this is a good idea, but I doubt anyone at a network will think of it. sad.gif

Hmm I don't think it would work. It's just not a good idea, starting with, why would they eliminate people? Also, you know how people in these shows looove to fake everything. I just can't see it would have a good finale either. Ahh I don't know how to explain what I'm trying to say, but it would not be a good program.
But hey, SunnyOutlook, if you still want to try to make it real, maybe you can try to get in touch with people on MTV, they are always open for crazy/weird ideas, especially coming from young people (I had a class about young people and media in my university, that's why I know this thumbsup.gif ...well , I suppose it's also vox populi, so yeah tongue.gif )

Big brother style as in presentation, although I'm aware the US BB is quite a different format from UK BB.

Option to watch live streaming 24/7, with a daily 1 hr edited highlights show showing the best bits.

Having evictions wouldn't work, that's not the focus of it anyway.

It's about having a dedicated, commited and geniuan team who are prepared to spend up to a few days at time in haunted locations. Perhaps the viewers get to vote from of a choice of locations where the team goes each time. It's really about spending quality time in a place for the best chance of getting ghost/spirit evidence on camera.

I like that idea where the viewers get to vote from a choice of locations. I can have evictions wouldn't work. I know some of these reality shows make things up or reshoot particular scenes. It would have to be a serious study and, hopefully, getting actual footage of a haunting. I told like the subjective stuff where someone says they felt someone touch them. The person would have to be trust worthy to actually believe them. Sometimes people get themselves worked up to the point where they think anything that happens is paranormal.

They could vote them off by the viewers. Put skeptics in and also belivers they may take each other out in the process...

Hmmm, that would be pretty cool. But in my opinion, the best investigators are neither believer nor cynic. Just an open minded skeptic.
