Never really thought about this until recently. I attach a link below, but am guessing the information will have updated and been removed by around 27th August.

I am interested in what is happening with Ioke which formed as a tropical system south of Honolulu.

Having made cat 4 status it weakened to cat 1, but now with renewed heat has reached cat 3 and is expected to make cat 4 once again.

As it is travelling westward towards Asia it certainly has the potential to be classed as a typhoon by Asian meterologists.

What I would like to know is should it maintain significant strength and make landfall in Asia will it remain called Ioke, or as I would guess take on a new name?

Also. Does anyone happen to know of a hurricane system holding enough strength to make landfall in Asia?

Regards

Forgot the name, but there has been some Typhoons hitting Asia, killing over 300 people.
