i would love to have the links thanks. anyway i have all my stories locked on my personal forum with access only to the admin - myself. so don't worry, i wont be posting anymore chapters of First Contact here. anyone who wants to read it has to PM me from now on.
Good idea.
Here's the links I mentioned, but bear in mind that these people will not spare feelings when it comes to writing. The guy who runs these two forums is a very gifted sci-fi/fantasy writer, his name is Mark and he knows his stuff. There is no censorship in his groups - he doesn't believe freedom of expression should be restricted in any way. A word of advice, though - he and I had a major falling-out last year and he has not spoken to me since. (Call it a difference of opinion on the subject of writing for publication that went a little too far). It's NOT a good idea to mention my name. However, I learned a great deal from him during my time in these forums, and as a mentor he's helped several people get published along the way. I refer writers with potential to him because I know he can help them refine their craft to publication-worthy status. Note that these two forums are members-only and you can only gain access by submitting a short piece of your work. If he approves it, you're in. Your work is protected there, as he doesn't allow just 'anyone' in and the work posted there is only accessible to members. He has several groups devoted to different genres, and you'll see links to those on his main page at Critical_Writing. I hope you have a thick skin - He's a harsh taskmaster, but he KNOWS edgy sci-fi and can give you honest, no-holds-barred advice. Again, do not mention my name.
