Full Version: Am I Too Naive?

(sorry if this is in the wrong category, I wasnt sure where to put it!)

I've always believed in the paranormal, UFO, ghosts, that some people have certain "un-normal" abilities (telekenesi, telepathy etc.), but I actually haven't had it happening to me. I've never seen a ghost, I've never had someone performing telekenesi infront of me etc. Still I believe strongly in these things. Of course when I talk to people about this, most are just laughing and saying it's all hoaxes and stuff. I've always defended it by saying it's not, but how do I really know? Of course, no one have the answer black on white I think, on what really does exist and what doesn't. I'm just wondering if I'm being so naive to believe in these things? Am I really that easy to trick into this belief?
I would really want to see a ghost or something like that so that I had some ground to stand on when I discuss these things with someone. I wonder if it's enough for me to know that other people has been through experiences, but at the same time I'm scared of having to have an experience, cause I would be so scared if it happened! tongue.gif
Is this similar to when someone talks about religion and those beliefs? If you're christian but haven't actually seen or have anything religious happening to you (seeing angels or whatever), do you feel you need to get more evidence to be able to keep on believing?

Anyone else who has felt like this and starting doubting their beliefs?

Just a little point to note - most people who believe in ghosts, ufo's, paranormal, telepathy, telekenesis or any other phenomena, most have never had an actual experience. Many believe simply because they see a beautifully complex world and think that there's gotta be more to life than this existence here.

As far as religion/spirituality goes, it's often the same. People who believe in God do so because they see that there had to be some creative force behind the world. Often there is not proof. Many do have thier own personal experiences that they view as personal proof of the existence of god or the paranormal, and for them, that is enough.

Naivety is a very problematic word to use, especially when we're being asked to judge someone who's only been here for a couple of hours. I say though - trust yourself. If you think that ghosts exist, then kudos to you. If you decide they don't exist, then be it so. If you think God exists, then follow your heart. If you believe God doesn't exist, then also follow that.

Never be afraid to ask questions. When you meet someone, remember they always know something you don't know, but also remember that there's always something you know that they don't. Just find that thing, store it up, keep it in mind, use your judgement, just don't follow blindly.

I'm not sure if that helps in answering your quesion, but I sort of just got stuck on rambling for a while. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow and think *egad, what have I just said* but it seems all good right now thumbsup.gif

btw, I've moved this to the Spirituality, Religion and Beliefs board. You'll probably get more constructive answers from there.

Good advice, PA, for each and every one of us!

Paranoid Android - Thanks for your reply original.gif I guess you're right, it seems right. Maybe we all don't need a reason or a proof... a bit sad that most of the people I talk to about this wants proof, though tongue.gif hehe, but you gave a good reply on that one ;D

You are the only one that knows what your own heart is telling you.
Each one of us is a unique individual, with diverse callings.
When we can be still for a little while, and just listen, there is that really deep down part of our heart, in that deep place, where it feels at a completely basic instinct like our soul, we have a "knowing" of what is real, and why we believe.
- and that is Supernatural.
