That 'human' footprint was actually a half-eroded hadrosaur footprint.

and giants will walk the earth again. If you look at the respective average sizes of recent generations, it will not be long before humans in developed countries are reaching the size to qualify as giants by the standards of a few hundred years ago. I lived in a house built in the mid 1800's where the doorways were so low that an average 20th. century man would bang his head if he didn't bend while walking through them.

That's true, looking at houses from merely a hundred years ago here in Norway, people were sooo small. And with all the heat coming, we'll be giants in a few hundred years. I didn't know those footprints were hoaxes, hmm...

Houses were built smaller for reasons other than the owners height, cost efficiency, warmth etc.
But you're right that people were smaller in the past, but that trend won't continue, there's a genetic limit to how tall a human would be able to grow.

This isn't as true as its seems at first glance... With the rise of modern humans, human averaged at a little less than 6 feet tall and it stayed that way until awell into the last millenium (at least in Europe). It was only with the degrading conditions of the poor and poorer urban conditions starting in the late Middle Ages, going through the Renaissance and culminating in the 18th and 19th Century that the avergae height (and life expectancy) dropped significantly.

They are right you know. Its similar to after the Nepolionic (excuse the spelling) wars, the average height of men dropped 4 inches for two generations.

I never heard that, but there is a legend about a Pope keeping a dragon in the vatican that ate a lot of people. At first glance this may seem absurd, but the original bible, as well as the greatest men of the Catholic Church, all acknowledged that dragons were heavenly creatures, called Seraphim and Cherubim. If you look at old illuminated Bibles of the Middle Ages, God rides on the backs of dragons just like Eragon, except in a throne strapped to the dragon's back.
But as to giants, anyone very tall might be called a giant, but over the years the stories would be exaggerated. Also, people would see large bones very similar to their own, so believed they were the bones of giants. The legend of the cyclopes is said to be based on mastadon bones, and the hole for the trunk was thought to be that of the eye.
