Anyone know anything about a hooved tribe in africa......... My hubby said he saw a documentry once about them but we couldnt find anything about them!!!!

please give me a break, you and your hubby have been watching too much National geographic channel. Obviously you will not find any information on hooved Africans, because there is simply no tribe like that. I should know because I am a pure bred African girl. Africans are beautiful people just like any one else. Despite the facts and nonsense Americans are shown on TV. we are beautiful people and very cultural people. well here is a pic of me a real african, I look nothing different from anyone else, and I am definately not hooved.

I bet 50 posts would pop up if the thread was – Huge butt Americans. I heard a story that all Americans have huge flabby butts, as part of they genetic make-up. And all the TV shows and images you see of Americans have been edited to remove this grotesque rump! Is this true?

ya know, something on T.V thats not real, can really believe that in the 21st century, someone would still be looking for hooved Africans. yes i am angry because of the way i see Africa and Africans being portrayed on T.V. just like everywhere has there bad parts and good parts so does Africa, but i guess the good parts of Africa are not interesting enough, thats why they show all the bad parts.

oh you know something guys, I heard about a tribe of Hooved irishmen, i also heard they have horns. i think they live somewhere in the mountains, can you tell me where i can go look or find out information about them.

I live in Mexico, and you wouldn’t believe some of the things South American people believe about English people. We are all mega rich, wear bowler hats all the time, and have a newspaper under one arm, and an umbrella in the other, lol. I’m surprised someone hasn’t tried to kidnap me, and get the address for my huge castle, and send a ransom note my bowler hat wearing relatives!

I don't think any racist offence should be taken. Foxy could have asked if we knew anything about Hooved Canadians (bet that would start an interesting thread as well).

okay, I went searching on this hooved african thingy. the only thing I found is that some tribe has "stilts" that make the wearer look like they have hooved feet. For the life of me, I can't find it to create a linky linky. I didn't see a picture or anything, but it is possible that the person who started the thread was half right..
there are africans with hooved feet...wooden stilts shaped like hooves.

Does this shed any light on the topic. There is a ceremonial mask that is worn, and the men use stilts that "resemble" hooves. Hope this helps end the controversy.

i do rememeber seeing something about some tribe somewhere, that passed down a genetic foot deformity... if i remember correctly it looked like 2 big (huge) toes. I cant seem to find anything on it tho... not sure where they lived

I know there is a tribe, but it may not be from africa that has extra fingers, so maybe there is a tribe that has a foot deformity...

I can understand you being angered, I suppose, but do understand that this was just an aparent documentary of a hooved tribe that originates in africa... she wasn't suggesting that all African's in fact are hooved monster's or anything, and if this documentary exists (unlikely) they wouldn't be poking fun at African people either... Let's face it... It could be hooved Australians, (I'm an Aussie) and I don't think I'd think too much more of it.

However, when they refer to these "hooves" they could be in fact talking about such a tribe that DOES exist, as sarkypi pointed out, that has a foot deformality with two large toes, that somewhat resembles a hoof. So, there ya' go! There really is an African tribe with such a trait!

They were also known as the Ostrich People. The name was given to them by hunters in the 19th and early 20th century, as they aparently were able to run quite quickly and their footprints (because of their deformity) left a print similar to that of an ostrich's. Also, they do not form a whole tribe themselves, but a few individuals within the tribe carry the deformity. The tribes real name, I believe is the Vadoma people...
