FYI.,.. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS HIGH SPEED DIALUP. 56 k is 56 k ( line can actually support 64k if there was no need for the darn dial tone signal and such hehe). lol not with regular phones and modems etc.. some phone companies ( like verizon in Washington state) are offering DSL (700+K) for 14.99 a month.. not promo, thats the price u pay ever month for as long as u have the service ;-)

I've got Netzero hi-speed as well. What makes it hi-speed is that you can set it not to load graphics on websites, thus making site load time less. Helpful for work - better than normal dial-up, if you ask me. Verizon isn't available in my area yet, and the neighborhood is not wired for cable. Stinks.

Yeah, dialup will always be slow...it's dialup after all, and actually yours is slow even for dialup. When I had dialup, I could get 5-6 kb/s download speeds...now, on relatively slow DSL, I get 150 kb/s speeds.
If you really want speed, upgrading to cable or DSL is about your only option.

As the others said, dial up is just plain slow. However not matter what your connection type, you will see a drastic decrease in download speeds if your machiene is harboring alot of adware or spyware. I would suggest scanning your computer regularly for these critters. There are several free and effective programs out there to help with this problem. Personally I use Adaware SE and SpyBot Search And Destroy. If you do have alot of adware it WILL slow your system but these programs will help get rid of it and hopfully you'll see better peformance!
