The other night i was walking to my car and as usually looked up in the night sky and it was a clear night sky full of stars. Most of the times when i do this i usually see satellites going across the sky but this time as i looked up i saw what i thought to be a satellite. But as i looked closer i noticed that behind that satellite was onother similar object and it appeared that they were traveling the same speed cause the distance between each other stayed constant as they traveled across.
I assume they where satellites but i have never seen two of them togheter in the same time,is this possible?
RollingThunder06
I have no idea about satellites. Really didn't know they could be seen with the naked eye.
Do you think there is any way to find out? Would be interesting to know what you saw.

There are many in orbit, and yes you can see some with the naked eye!

Excactly,i see them on regular bassis but what was interesting in this case is that it was to objects traveling at a same rate of speed and keeping constant distance all the time. They looked like two stars and where traveling in a strait line.I have never heard of satellites traveling in pairs so thats why i was puzzled.
Withoutnight
I haven't heard of that either. Maybe if you needed a stronger signal you would get two moving together!
Dodir_Svile
maybe it was a plane. and you saw the front and the back light.
Cold.
Probably was a plane. Then again, who knows? laugh.gif

Yep, if the conditions are right you can see satellites from earth. They're quite common and I’ve noticed many believers do confuse them for UFOs. The golden rule is; if it moves in a straight trajectory, with a high altitude then it's probably a satellite.

Here's a good website in which you can see and track most satellites.

http://science.nasa.gov/Realtime/jtrack/3d/JTrack3d.html

However, it the object shows intelligent control such as high speed right angled maneuvers well, then this is a different ball game altogether. However, it would still take additional information to determine if the object is of alien origin.

Still, I reckon alien craft do visit planet earth.

Rapid, how come in all of the threads I've made you haven't really professed yourself as a believer that alien crafts have visited Earth?

Simple, I'm not a believer. I don't use faith or when I do, I use probability instead and keep it to a minimum; I admit when I'm speculating and when I'm not.
I rarely post my true position these days because I find this avoids pointless circular arguments with the skeptics.
There is always a new skeptic on the block who thinks they've solved the mystery of the phenomena. Alas, I used to be a skeptic so I can't really point fingers but it can be irritating. mellow.gif I'll back up a believer if they comment on something which has been personally verified to me.

I'd just like to see some skeptics open their mind to the possibility that this scenario could be real and for the true believers to increase their critical thinking skills so as to avoid disillusion. There's no shame in saying I don't know if you really don't know. Far from being the most stupid; it’s actually one of the most intelligent comments you can make. thumbsup.gif

Interesting. I'm not a big UFO enthusist but I would never be so ignorant to believe that the earth is the only life existing in the known universe. Or beyond even. Even though it's hard to wrap your head around life from other planets it would be near ignorant to excuse it.

I think you saw plane lights thumbsup.gif Ex: A cargo plane. The satellites are hard to pick out. They look exactly like stars, except for their motion.

You would need to know how and where to look to find a satellite.

Depending on where you are looking at the sky from, satellites can be seen easily in the night sky. I live way, way out in the countryside where the night sky is clearly visible. Almost every clear night, if I'm home,I sit outside and skywatch for at least an hour, sometimes longer if it's a really lovely, relaxing night. It has become quite easy for me to recognize satellites in the sky. Most of them go overhead on a very regular basis, same times every night. Occasionally there will be one i haven't seen before, but judging by its behaviour and movement it is obvious that it is a satellite. Satellites do sometimes travel close to each other.

Orbital space, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbits (GEO), is getting pretty crowded these days. It's not uncommon for satellites to be 'stacked' one behind the other in the same orbit.

I remember some years back, on my Aunt's farm in Southern Vermont, it was such a clear starry night, I remember seeing one my cousin pointed out. It was a pinpoint of light traveling in a straight line across the sky. It was neat to see.

What about an object traveling at 90 degree angles, like zigzagging across the night sky? That was what I saw one night, about twenty years ago. I have always told people, that I'm not quick to say it was a flying saucer, but a UFO, yes. It was to me an unidentified flying object. I always waiting to see what others would think of a pinpoint of light that zigzagged across the night sky, at very fast speeds. Seriously, I would really like to know. Some said it could be a hang glider, but I discounted that, for one, it was at night, two, too high, and three, the area I saw the object, there are not high elevations to jump off in a hang glider. Planes and helocopters do not zigzagged the way this thing did. Has anyone heard of something that flies like this?

Could have been a model plane or a balloon in high altitude wind. huh.gif

Well, I never thought of those two examples, except it was way too high in the sky. Plus, it was traveling way too fast to be a balloon. It was traveling in almost in a consistent zigzagged flight path. Plus, it was after dark.

One thing I should mentioned, I got this really funny feeling when watching this thing. Usually, when I see something, I can almost picture what is there. Like when someone comes up and says something, I almost pictured what they were going to say. When I see lights in the sky, and notice the usual lights and flight pattern, I also get this usual familiar feeling like I know it's a commercial jet, and I can almost picture the flight crew and passengers in the object. This time, and two other times, when I viewed something I couldn't identify, I felt like something was unknown, maybe to the point of feeling unfamiliar or alien. It's like a wierd feeling, and I felt this with this zigzagged object. I don't know, has anyone else seen something like this?

Given the right Mass , approach angle and speed some meteors bounce or skip across the Earth's Atmosphere like rocks skipping in pond.

Now, that makes sense. Does this happen occasionally? You see, this is what I wanted, to know if I saw something that could be explained. That is probably what I saw, a meteor skipping the atmosphere. Thank you!
