Ok well the other night, while driving home, I was talking to my mother about aliens and UFOs and such. Pretty much just expressing my beliefs about how we aren't alone in the universe, when she told me this story. She told me it once when I was younger, but Id forgotten all about it until now. It was the late 60's early 70's, and my mom was living in Idaho at the time. Her and group of about 10-15 people were down at the rock quarry, just having a good time (I'm sure that means there were a few beers drank that night). They were surrounded on all 4 sides by the rock face. Sort of like a very large pit, about 100-200 feet across with a bunch of teenagers hanging out in the middle.

They'd been there for a while, and it was getting pretty dark. When out of no where, some one looked up and probably no more than 50-75 feet above them, was an enormous flat surface. As they all looked up at it, they could tell that it wasn't in fact flat, but they could make out pipes and wires, with out a doubt a mechanical device. This thing was so big, they couldn't make out the shape of it, they could only tell it was moving, as they could see the pipes and such slowly moving along. From what I can tell, it was so big, they couldn't even see the edges to make out the exact shape, it was sort of acting like a top, covering the pit. The strangest part, it was totally silent. No sounds of a running engine, or exhaust fans. They watched it move over head for a good 30 seconds, and then like that, it was gone. They all scrambled to the top of the rock face, to see if they could see what it was, but it was no where to be seen.

Now I'm sure, given the fact it was the 70's, there were a few joins smoked as well but would it actually be possible for the entire group to imagine the same thing??? Was this possibly some sort of military craft, or are you as baffled as I am??? I realize i'm not the best at typing a whole lot, and I could have written this alot better, I'm just really curious as to what my mother could have seen

Not an expert, these are just my opinions. Don't think several people could witness something that wasn't truly there. This makes me believe that they definitely witnessed an object. For the pipes and wires that doesn't sound like one of our military planes. The ones I have seen pictures of are all slick and neat. All mechanics are located interior. It's enormous size, lack of any sound and the fact how it disappeared so quickly is something I can relate to as I witnessed something back in the 80's. We may have the technology to do this but I am unaware of it of course. I believe your mom did see something unidentified to the common public and got very well be not human made. What does your mom think?

I sort of know how she feels. Have only told two people (until now) about it. Afraid of what people will say or think. For some reason there are times when I feel that I saw something I shouldn't have seen. Hard to explain.
