I'm interested because I'm skeptic. Funny because I believe in so much of the paranormal world views that you'd think the ouija would be right up there with em. I am currently trying to meditate and channel my spirit guide and this was suggested to me. So my question is.. are you scared of spirit boards? And does this image look so unbelievably fake as it does to me? Should I be wary of using a spirit board? I've tried making one myself and haven't had much luck with contact.. any suggestions?

Its my belief that if you buy one from "Toys R Us" it will give you the same results although it will look better than homemade.

You are going to have a lot of different opinions. Mine is that they do help make contact and I don't like them because of an experience. If you do use it make sure you have them say goodbye left to right and not backwards. This is a sneaky trick they can pull. Can't see where a homemade one would produce anything different from a bought one.

Well, I will say this much. Ive said before on the subject about 'online ouija boards' as well as any ouija board, that to use it with your eyes is the most effective. It defeats the purpose of a planchette. Ive 'read' ouija boards before. Whether or not they are produced by a company, or you make one yourself. The idea I believe is to be able to set your eyes on the letters and read until you get a response. Yes, this means you have to use it alone. Use it at your own risk, or in other words "read" at your own risk. Be prepared to have your mind read by others who "aren't" there.
This is something Ive done for years, and perfected. But, it also has consequences. Today, I have 'contact' with the afterlife and, it isn't like everyone in the afterlife is very friendly. So to be afraid of ouija boards, is no different a concept of just being afraid of anyone you normally figure you woul'd be afraid of.

Homemade or bought from Toys R Us it doesn't matter... In all the ouijia boards I've ever done, I've never once used a manifactured standard board, lol
a piece of paper and coin does the trick

I tried the online ouija thing.. didn't work for me. I used a glass for a planchette on a paper with a ouija drawn on it.. didn't really work (moved very little). I used a diamond necklace pendant and chain for a pendulum (i have no quartz so thought it would be the closest rock) and it did respond but nonsense like. *shrugs* my experiment continues! lol
thanks for all the replies, i'm interested in the myth of this thing as well as the science of it. the saga continues! lol

PFlack – following your method the only thing controlling your actions would be your own mind. Any messages that come out are going to be just thoughts from your subconscious.

I've made my own and used them with someone else (can't use one by myself) and have some available for download and printing from my site. I'm not scared of boards or using them, nor do I think there is ever any reason to burn one, nor do I think they mystically apport from the trash back into someone's closet.
They can give abusive, threatening and anxiety-causing results, and I do believe they're dangerous for already unbalanced/hysterical and immature/irrational individuals. I'm also a "skeptic", in that I think they "work", but HOW they work is something I differ with "believers" on.
As far as Pflack's method, I think its likely about as valid as "normal" operation or automatic writing, and will likely provide a more fluid "stream of consciousness" result.

Its pure cosmetics. Ive used the stor bought boards as well as the homemade ones. They work about equally. Even a clear glass table witha wine glass will work.
